Am I the only one dissappointed that the re-re's seem to have slowed to a crawl since the Bruiser? I was hoping that Tamiya would have another surprise for us at this months show. I keep dreaming of a re-re 959 or Celica. I hope we haven't seen the end of the trend, as there are still a number of models I had as a youth and would love a shot at building and driving again.

I would be very, actually, extremely happy, if Tamiya would stop the flood of re-re's - especially the loosely based ones like the Blackfoot III etc. I mean, vintage cars are fun, and I like it that Tamiya has brought us re-releases, but it seems they release those at the cost of (re)development and improvement of cars, and it seems to slow down the amount of new cars that they release.

If you look at Kyosho, they don't re-release, but I think they do manage to make their vintage fans happy. They however do this with cars that have modern materials and engineering (this doesn't have to mean double wishbone suspension, but material quality and a better understanding of durability thanks to CAD software), yet remind the user of more scale, classic vehicles. This started with the Ultima DB (which admittedly wasn't optimal even if it was a nice start). However, the new Kyosho Sand Master is pretty cool, and if you go up in scale, the upcoming Kyosho Scorpion XXL is a very nice effort to get the looks with the convenience of a modern car (oh, and it's HUGE! It's 1/7th scale, almost as big as an HPI Baja 5B).

I'm not saying Tamiya should take exactly the same approach, but it would be cool if for a re-release they would redevelop a car completely but (like Tamiya can do so well with TC bodyshells) replicate the looks of the original very well :)

Re-release will always be part of Tamiya marketing tool. And who knows, over time every models Tamiya has put out could be re-released, provided we live long enough to see it. Maybe this time next year, we'll see another old 3 spd release either the Blazer or the Hilux since the chasis is already in place and just have to sort out the legal matters with car companies and, I personally prefer the Blazer :) , likely the Toyota will get the green light. :(

For the time beening, Tamiya is likely to focus more on new products.

I have been pleased with some of the new kits from Tamiya. I absolutely love my XV-01 and my VDF. I agree that they should continue coming out with new kits and I'd love it if Tamiya FINALLY started adding metric hardware to all the kits. That being said, I wish they would stop with the Alt color/body kits that are becoming so prevelant and get out more classics for us old farts lol. Never had a Blazer, and would love one. Still mulling over wether I should get a Bruiser. There are some Iconic kits like the Fox and the aformentioned Rally 1/12th scales I want. I would also love some classic ORVs like the Monster Beetle but with a ball diff and slipper to handle modern electronics and brushless. Is that too much to ask for? ;)

I have no problem with it and am grateful that they released a a better more sturdy sand scorcher that remains almost identical to the original. It was an absolute blast to get the box and see it all laid out with the same colored blister packaging and build it from scratch. Was the reason I got back into RC after hot having one since about 1986.

I missed the boomerang ReRe which I probably would have gotten new too.

@Thiebault. I too am hoping the Fox will be re released. That was the kit I first fell in love with as a kid. I'd see it in a shop window all the time and thought it was awesome. Coveted it for months. Back then there was no internet and you just got what was available. My best friend bought the fox and I got the boomerang months later when a RC car store opened up in town.

Always had a soft spot for the scorcher. One of my best friends had a couple, a porsche 959 and bruiser. And on a racing pack the scorcher ran and ran and ran forever and tended to do better off road as a trail buggy than most of our more modern tamiya buggies.

I always loved the more scale looks of the older cars compared to today. In the end I didn't want to splash out on a ready built Boomerang and got an Axial Exo as my fast modern scale RC. I expect I'll get a couple more re re's over the next year or so.

Have to keep the wife happy and stick with the two t I have for now :)

I've been loving the re-releases, but I'm not disappointed that they've slowed down - well my wallet isn't anyway!

They released a decent number of great classic kits in a very short space of time - Super Shot, Avante, Fast Attack, Wild One, Bruiser, Blitzer Beetle... They need to give their nostalgic kit market a breather.

I don't think we'll ever see the end of Tamiya re-releasing old kits. It's been shown that cost isn't a barrier for Tamiya to reproduce any old kit, if they think they can make a profit on it. I'm sure we'll see the Fox re-released some day, probably sooner rather than later.

I've been hoping for this for a long time. Being able to actually 'run' it and not baby it around incase you break something expensive. I have two already, but this is one that will make the money come out of my wallet for that NIB build experience, and a (yes you heard it right) NIB for the shelf.

Bring on The Fox !!!!

Well, if this slowing means that re-re will be "real" re-re and not something like the Blackfoot III, it's welcome :)

I'm scared because I'm waiting from years a Monster Beetle re-re.

That's what I was after, real "re-re's". I don't want a body on a TT-01 or an alt color Grasshopper/Hornet/Hot-Shot/FAV. That being said, I had no problem with the Avante/Avante BS, as they represented an iconic kit and one with all the "upgrades". I got both :P . Bring on the Fox, Monster Beetle, or Porsche 959/Celica Tamiya!!!

Only time and Big T can tell. :) I thought my wallet would get a break, but sadly I've been buying race gear now that we have a great indoor track in town. I'll have to take my Avante and Super Hotshot to the track and make a proper video.
