I'm using the recent version of Opera running on Win7.

1. The forums won't let me post quick replys, hitting the "post" button does nothing. I have to ht "more reply options" first and then "Add reply" in the full editor.

It seems to me the quick reply "post" button isn't working properly.

2. When I edit a post, it will often (not everytime) not be shown formatted as WYSIWYG or BB-Code in the full editor, but in HTML-Code. This breaks most of the formats, especially embedded Youtube videos will be corrupted. This gives me a hard time to wipe all the unwanted HTML code out of the post, fix broken formats and corrupted links.

This is happening since the TC forum got updated. :( All other forums I visit are working fine, and the old TC forum software was fine, too.

Running another browser just for using TC not very convenient and so it is out of option, as this is not caused by a parsing fault in the Opera browser itself, but by some code errors in the forum software.

I'd be very pleased if somebody care about this issue, as it may appear in other browsers sooner or later, too.

And I thought it was just me! I put it down to the fact that my work pc has IE6(!!!!!) so is very limited as to what I can do with it. I too get the add reply issue, though not all the time. I have to click on the more options box and then post, and its all fine, but as I said, this is not always the case (ironic if it does it to this post!)

I have no issues with Firefox at home though....

(hahahahahahah!! Guess what I just had to do!!)

Make sure you are logged out of the main TC site (showrooms) before attempting to post or edit in the forum. This does it for me too if I'm logged into the mainsite with IE6, IE7, IE8 on WinXP and IE9 on Win7. Not tried it on other browsers, but others have reported similar problems and logging out of the shorooms stops it.

I get it too - Chrome on OSX...

It's a javascript error in the forum page:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'getText' of undefined

Event.stop(e);var Post=ipb.textEditor.getEditor(ipb.topic.fastReplyId).getText();var isRte=ipb.textEditor.getEditor(ipb.topic.fastReplyId).isRte();if(Post.blank())

Looks like an issue with the IPB script...

I'm using Firefox on Windows 7 and Windows XP (I've also tried Chrome and Explorer) - it often has exactly these problems (in combination that I can't see the editing tools like font, size and the smilies). Every once in a while though (like now), it does work as intended. Removing cookies, history etc and updating the browser and it's plug-ins doesn't change anything to the situation.

I always keep myself logged in on the showroom part of the website. I haven't tried logging out there first like TA-Mark suggested, but if it does work I am usually still logged on on the website.

*bump*

I still get the same issues Greg flagged up. Is there any plan to look into it?

It feels pretty inconvenient to have to log out of the main site, but at least it seems to work...

hi all ,

i was having the same issues a while back , i thought it was being caused by a script error when using IE on win7 , it turned out that it was a very well embedded trojan that my av program failed to spot , i found this out when i searched on google for forum posting issues, i cant remember the name of it now , i got rid of it by doing a full default reinstall of win7 after saving all important files to a remote drive , all fine now .

it may not be this thats causing all your problems but thought i would share just in case. ;)

I'm using OSX so I'd be surprised it was the same problem, but thanks for the suggestion.

The weird thing is that Mark's solution of logging out of the main site makes it work...

thats what i was having to do and it worked but it was annoying , i have never used a mac and as far as i am aware they are far less prone to infection , hope you get to the bottom of the issue , it a right royal pain in the wotsit, ;)

The problem is something to do with the cookies on the mainsite and the forums

I've asked Chris for an explanation as to what the issue is, so I'll post it up once I know.

Being logged in on the forums has no effect on the mainsite but being logged in on the mainsite causes several issues on the forums;

Reply box loses emoticons, image code boxes, text formatting options etc.

Thread follow button doesn't work

Editing goes to pot

etc.

With having to be logged in to do stuff on both sides of TC, it's something that annoys me no end, so it's high on the moan list, trust me <_<

The simplest interim solution is use two different browsers - one for TC and one for the forums - not ideal, but less hassle
