Anyone fitted a sound module to a 1/10 onroad car?

Recommended Posts

Hi people,

I'm expecting a tamiya TT01E Ford SVT F150 soon and as I like to be different I was thinking about trying to add a sound module to it. I'm looking at the USM-RC as it appears to be able to be programable and somes with a V8 engine sound. I just wondered if anyone has ever managed to fit one on a 1/10 RC car?

hello mate . i speak reasonable german and from what i can make out i dont see any reason way this wont work well . lots of the scale military guys fit sound units in jeeps ect . Those are usually 1/6 scale but the esc's ect are idenical to what us 1/10 blokes use . Give Conrad a look too as they do some good sound units .

That kit is designed to fit in a 1/14th truck or 1/16 tank so it runs from the same gear but its if I can find the room hahaha. Obviously it be best to place the electronics to the inside of the shell

Tamiya did it with the hi_lifts ;)

I had a module in my CR01 FJ crawler (custom made series by a Belgium guy) which is similar to the USM-RC

but when I finally finish my re Bruiser it will become the module.

Have been thinking about getting the USM-RC for this baby as that module also does flashing LED and additional sounds like blasts etc.

You would only have the idle engine noise unless you went with the 2.4 upgrade setup from down under. Controlling just the fire functions wouldn't be easy.

I'am going to see how it is as standard Dave with the addition of a better quality speaker . I think the one coming has the rx18 ? unit . If i'am not happy with the sound i'll prob get the 2.4 setup in order to have more options and add better sound effects . I new to tanks so it will be a case of feeling my way and seeing whats available . i've even being thinking about builing my own sound modual from scratch . Maplins - bit like radio shack , do all the bits i would need and programing one via my pc is'nt rocket science . i have also seen the SLU sound units from canada Dave but i'am concerned about how easy they would be to order and about the customs duty if i imported one to the uk as these are expencive to start with .
