Fresh from our first outing with 3800mah 2S LiPo batteries (we were running no-brand NiMH) at a club meeting, I'm keen to price up a better/newer ride than my TB-02.

As I'm on a budget, and potentially going to have to buy another one when my son sees it, I'm looking at the Sakura Zero S from RCMart as well as a budget brushless motor and ESC from hobbyking.

However, it occurs to me that if we want to do more than compete against each other then my son and I should get rigs that comply with a basic racing class, just in case.

I've looked at lots of the pdfs on the BRCA web site and the lists of acceptable components is extensive; it's going to take a while to figure them all out. So....

Has anyone been through this loop before? I want the lowest cost, compliant brushless motor and ESC combination that we can race between us at the club but can also compete if we want to.

Ideas?

How about the TA05 as a starting point, if your on a budget, loads of hop-ups and sensible price. I can highly recommend hobbywing brushless setups as ive got a few myself and can't fault them for the money. i think we need a club racer to advise you better i think though.

Yep. Hopefully a racer will be along shortly :)

Just to put the Sakura Zero S into context; it's £75 (shipped), so we really are talking budget end of the spectrum.

I have the shell, steering servo, a set of Sorex 32R tyres on Schumacher Rev-lite wheels and the radio gear.

I'd just like a suggestion for a budget, race-class compliant brushless motor and ESC.
