So I snagged another WR01 chassis from eBay.. needs electronics, wheels and a body.

I would like a lexan body (wr01 specific would be nice) This one will stay 2wd for now, probably get a silver can with a 20t pinion.. I would like to find a decent body for it as it will probably be painted pink for my daughter..

any ideas on a body for this rig?

Now we are up to 4 RC cars in the house..

my 1985 Monogram Thunder

my 4x4 Clod bodied BFX

My son's Dual Hunter

and now this chassis

how about a parma jeep rubicon body Jeff ? Something a bit different from the norm. Your'll need to trim it and drill mounting holes but it's no biggie to do

I found a Pro-Line one.. that might work.. there are a couple others too..

I even thought about a Grave Digger body too..

being this one is 2wd I am debating on trying the larger tires I have too.. make it a monster.. then convert it to 4wd later.. LOL

SO I got the Chassis.. Full Bearings and hex screws everywhere..

What it needs:

2 hex drives and Pins

Motor and motor mounting screws

ESC

Steering Servo

Radio gear

Tires

Body

I have the 2 hex drives and I have 2 pins, although I am thinking one of my trucks might be missing a pin..

With my narrow stance Clod body I might put 1.9s on it ( Wild Willy Wheels) then use the Black foot wheels on this chassis.

I have a 20t pinion and a silver can that will work to power it

Thinking about a body I might do the Jeep but have not given it much thought

Installed:

Steering Servo (bought one today)

Wheels installed from my BFX

I bought Wild Willy 2 Wheels for my Modded BFX, with the smaller Diameter tires I should be able to drop the body a slight bit

I still need an ESC and a radio, then a body. I will probably get another Traxxas TQi radio from a guy at work for a good price.. then the ESC and a body and all is good

Speedy...

That looks cool.. my Daughter picked out a dark purple metallic.. I have not had anytime for it lately though.. I was sick and now I have to help my son with his Pinewood car.. plus being cold here I have no real place to paint..

any tips for masking it to paint the motor?

I am also tempted to make this 4wd and be done.. That way it is the same as my son's and I know if this one gets stuck and his does not she will be mad.. LOL

I generally use 3M blue painter's tape on all edges, leave some overhang, and then cut the exact line I want with an Xacto knife. It's worked pretty well for me on Parma bodies in the past.

For this specific body I started with the included window masks, then I laid a thin strip of Pactra masking tape for the silver trim line on the sides/front of the body. Next I applied 3M blue tape where the green is. I also applied 3M tape over the motor and trimmed the edges with an Xacto knife to get the exact contour of the motor.

Shot a few coats of black, then lifted the blue tape and shot some fluorescent green, then pulled the Pactra trim tape and the motor tape, and shot some bright silver. Then I used a light coat of black again, pulled the window masks, and applied some window tint/smoke. The Pro-Line decals were used on the motor, tail lights, headlights, and door handles. I used a fine Sharpie to accent a few spots on the motor.

The wing was easier with fluorescent green, silver, and then black in sequence.

Did your daughter pick out Pactra Grape Pearl? I love that color -- it looks rich and deep when finished.

I don't remember the exact color but I will try to check tonight..

thanks for the tips..

sounds like I would do the Purple first, then Silver then some color for the windows.. I was thinking of Silver for them too honestly, but a smoke color would be cool as well

I also see you trimmed back the wing.. that makes sense although the wrap around looks cool as well.

I can paint hardbodies without issue.. but this is newer territory
