I've just aquired a new build Clodbuster that only needed minor finishing, anyway its all done now and will be in my showroom soon, but on looking it over I noticed something Odd?

on the box illustration it clearly shows the truck with a CHEVROLET badge on the front grille, when you look over the Decal sheet, there is no Badge and the grille has a plain flat surface where it should go, does anyone know why this is? did the original first batch clods have grille badges and later models had them removed or something? and for that matter what Chevy truck is the Clod body supposed to be based on, it sure aint the Blazer :)

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with liscense agreements. At first maybe Tamiya was paying to use the Chevy bowtie but then said we don't need it, or maybe they just started using it without permision and were asked to discontinue the emblem.

But yes, early versions had the Chevy emblem and the latter ones didn't. I believe it is supposed to be based off a C-10 or F-150. I'm not quite sure because it looks similar to a few Chevy trucks, but I'm sure someone out there knows exactly what model it is. If you really want to find out, ask the guys over at RCMT.net

Egads! F-150????? How dare you insult the wonderful Chevrolet name by calling it an F-150!!! [;)]

For the record it is a Chevrolet C-30! [8D]

Jester is right, it was a license problem.

They removed the Chevy emblem from front grill, the writing 'Chevrolet' on back body and side decals.

They changed the manual too, you will not find any sign of Chevy in the later manuals.

Luckily I got an original manual and the club has a scanned copy of it !

Thanks guys that sorta answers all my questions, I imagined that would be the reason behind the "missing" Badge, at first I thought I had an early type Clod but now I know I havent :) still I got around the problem by cutting out the small black "Twin Star" Tamiya logo from the corner of the decal sheet and put that in its place :)

I will have to check out the online manual to see how differnt it really is :)

if you look real close at the new manual you can see that the lines in the drawings for the front grill do not line up exactly with each other at the points where the chevy logo should be, and same thing with some of the pics of the other logos, the manual pic looks altered.
