Hi all, my son has a cc01 with a blackfoot extreme body fitted, im just modding it to be a little lower and woundered what the best way to make it 2wd would be, thought about just simple taking out the drive pins in the front hubs, would this work. he only runs onroad with it so thinking of making it a little wider too. any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

The CC or XC has pretty hight center of gravity and flips easily around corners especially with the hard plastic body shell. To lower it, add inserts collar inside the shocks and use foam tires. But be sured the lowered shocks would still have clearance for the foam wheels. You don't want thean fenders to cut grooves on the foam tires. Even foam tires alone would make the handling a lot better than the stocked high wall tires.

Have you thought of running it FWD? If you do want to try it just leave the front end alone and simply remove the propshaft to the rear axle. He may find it a bit easier to control and less likely to spin out. If he likes it you could remove the rear diff as its not needed.

I've widened a CC01 slightly by adding a 2mm washer between each hex hub and the wheel. That's about as much as you can get away with and still catch the standard drive cups with the nylock wheel nuts. If you use unflanged M4 nylock nuts it helps. Doesn't sound like much but it widens the track by 4mm overall and is enough to fill out wider wheel arches. For more you'll either need wheels with more + offset (I think) or wheel / axle spacers.

Weighted wheels will help lower the COG a lot.
