1. Not spend all summer cursing at ball differentials.

2013 season over.. Not one ball differential issue. For the DB01 folks that struggle with stock ball diffs, I highly recommend TRF501 metal diff halves with ceramic bearings! I am not cooking thrust bearings, not cooking ball bearings, not cooking everything that was for some reason going wrong with the stock diff parts.

Bring on the winter indoor racing!

Finish all my restoration projects instead of (or before?) buying any more.

Projects =

Boomerang (needs body)

Wild One (needs body)

Bruiser (needs body)

Nitro USA-1 (needs body painting and engine mounts made)

EP USA-1 (needs body)

Clod Buster (need to replace destroyed body)

Clod Axle Monster truck (Currently just axles and tyres, need chassis/motors/esc/body)

Also would (still) really like to get a Juggernaut 1 or 2, and would love to build a tank of some description (maybe king tiger/kV2 ...or even 2A6).

Thread from the dead...

Boomerang has body fitted, needs to be painted and have decals applied.

Wild one good to go, regular runner now.

Bruiser has body, need to strip and paint, also acquire decals.

Both USA-1's no change, want to get onto the EP soon though!

Acquired an new Chev Clod body & decals etc some time ago, still haven't painted them :(

Clod axle monster done. CPE Terminator, need to get the name signwritten for sides.

Bought a Juggernaut from a UK member, takes pride of place in hobby room :)

Bought and built a Leopard 2a6, epic and iconic Tamiya build. Wow!

So did I stop buying more and get the projects finished? No, not really.

Plan for 2015? I want a Mammoth Dump Truck :):):)

Oh well, it's 2 years old but here goes:

Mainly - get out and enjoy RC again. I stopped racing well over a year ago and in that time have done almost nothing RC-related that hasn't been in my own home tinkering with unfinished projects.

I'm really annoyed that I didn't choose to stuff everything and go to the nearby Iconic meet on Sunday, it's the only event so far down my part of the country but I stayed at home to meet a guy about some drinks for my forthcoming wedding, who decided not to show up. Livid is not the word...

So - try to book some free weekends and get up to some RC meets. Maybe even screw the world and just go play on my own from time to time.

An important project for the next couple of months - finish off at least one nice, tidy-looking pickup truck to "bear the rings" at my wedding. Nobody will be expecting when the minister says "please present the rings" and an RC truck drives down the aisle with a box on the back. Unfortunately all my trucks look a bit battered, so I need to get one done up really nice. I have a brand new Super Clod body, TLT axles, 2.2 wheels and ladder frame, but it's totally unstarted so I might have to do something else. Maybe get a local body shop to paint up my King Blackfoot shell which is soon to go over a CC01 chassis, when I finish it.

Other than that, really just finishing off a bunch of projects and trying to avoid buying new ones.

From time to time I look at all the shelf queens sitting on slanted shelves in my studio and I think to myself, that represents a whole lot of money, but what does it really do? What is it for? Why do I want this? And would I actually be happier if I sold it all and put the money in the bank?

Who knows, maybe 2015 will be the year I cut down on my shelf stock and enjoy the freedom of being unencumbered? But if that is so, why do I find myself looking again and again at all the fine models on Modelsport, Ebay, Tower, etc. with my mouse hovering over the Checkout button..?

A silly question perhaps, but I am just thinking about logistics here - who are you going to have drive the truck on the big day? I suggest someone who knows how to drive, and maybe you should get in some practice sessions - the last thing you want is an out of control Clod heading for Aunt Doris's 90 year old ankles!

:D:lol:

I've got a driver lined up - he's a skilled racer and long-time RC enthusiast (and member of TC, although I haven't seen him here for years) so he'll be OK with it, I'm sure he'll get some practice in first tho. It'll be 55T crawler power so not fast. I will be too busy standing up front and looking nervous and trying to ignore the laughter as the truck comes rolling down the aisle.

We discussed this weekend that we definitely needed a secure box for the rings, and not a cushion, as the likelihood for mishap if the truck crashes or the rings roll off just doesn't bear thinking about :D

I'll have to get an emergency runner just in case there is a problem and the rings need to be carried manually - it would be a bad time to suffer radio problems, motor failure, dropped propshaft, even a loose pinion grub could scupper it...

Hopefully before, but I've got to squirrel the money first and find a suitable seller

The last two second hand ones went for circa $500 on ebay, I am not paying the 1200+ for a used one the two current sellers on there are asking

Great revival berman ! This is how I went....

1. Just subscribed (at last) - Best move ever !
2. I guess that means I will have to start taking photo's - And haven't stopped since. I've been accused of taking more pics of my cars than pics of my kids......guilty !
3. Finish my brushless Astute runner project - Yep finished that one and since decided that vintage cars really should run brushed motors.
4. Build a 4WD Brumby from TA02 and DF01 parts with a polycarbonate Brat shell. Colour blue. - Finished, painted red and on-sold the chassis. Still use the body on my other wide track TA02T.
5. Astute shell with new decals (Thanks Wilton84 - champ) - This one is still on the 2015 list.
6. Egress shell with new decals - Never eventuated as the Egress was announced for re-release later that year. Still haven't bought one though, need to win lottery for that one.
7. Buy something NIB - No NIB since ! should really be putting money away for the Egress 2013 but I keep buying Astute's and Astute parts.

Fun thread to revive :D For you DB01 guys, I am STILL running the same ball diffs, still no problem. At one point I had a thrust spring start to go bad but I caught it before the diff could be cooked. My cars have been working pretty dang good. I haven't had to replace any part of the drivetrain in almost 2 years. The only thing I have gone through is wings and lower control arms and hinge pins.

Going into 2015... My plans are probably going to take a significant change (depending on finances). My current track cars are a DB01RR and an AE B4.2. Both are seriously dated by current standards. And although I enjoy driving something 'different' and I am not a regular racer (once a month), it would be nice to be driving something current to see where I stand. For 2WD, I am torn between waiting for a new release AE B5m (factory team?), a TLR22, and a Kyosho RB6. My wallet will probably win here and I will end up with a B5m of some version. My 4WD (called 'wheeler' class in the US), I am not sure what I am going to do. I have a huge heart for my fleet of DB01s and I have probably $2K of cars and parts. I might sell it all though and focus on something new for 4WD. If I had a brain I would retain the same brand for my 2WD car as my 4WD. Problem is, the AE B44.3 is nothing new, I don't want it. The TLR 22-4 isn't bad, not totally sure about that one. Serpernt has something b*tt-wild coming out that might be cool, but I would have ZERO local parts support, same as a D413 which is a pretty cool car too.

I have never been a fan of selling my stuff, but I can see a year of selling a bunch of my current aresnal to afford a clean slate of modern bliss and new builds :) I am going to be 'cross' if I sell it all, replace with new, and am still as slow as I was. :D
