Your RC plans for 2013?

Recommended Posts

Here are mine, in no particular order...

1. Buy and fit TRF shocks and universal driveshafts to DB01 Durga

2. Cut and paint Baja lexan shell for my 'brat' ORV chassis

3. Strip clean and restore my Super Champ, although undecided whether to go full original spec or use the party chassis plates I already have

4. Strip , clean and rebuild with hop ups the F103 I have on route

5. Rebuild and attempt electric conversion on a NDF-01 nitro thunder

6. Clean up and get running a madcap project, then sell on

7. Clean up and sell the RC10T3 I bought as a 2011/12 winter basher, but still haven't picked up from my mates house!

8. Restore a Kyosho Progress 4wds buggy

And try not to buy any more models!!

David, I wish you luck on the no more models. I haven't had much luck with that myself.

Finish the gearboxes on the steel tank this year. I know I said it last year, but I have made progress on it since last xmas !

Hopefully build a cab for the 6x6 forestry truck and finish that.

Get my DF-02 to go as fast in a straight line as is possible :)

Keep my fingers crossed that T will release something I want to buy this year. Last year was a bit of a washout, the XV-01 was very very close to tempting me, but the transmission looked too feeble for what I wanted.

David, I'm sorry my friend but I don't think the 'no more cars' resolution will work! ;)

I've got two projects to finish, two WW2's to do hopefully do something creative with and a big project that I've started buying parts for. That little lot should keep me busy for a couple of months at least, I just need to focus and not get tempted by anything else in the meantime!

As far as projects and cars go, I'll finish off the grader and make a few custom speed car chassis. Detail the unimog and get rid of it. Pass along the RC10DS and rere frog.

My intent is to join the local racing league to help curb the model a week thing.

would be interested to see #5, the NDF conversion.

had one and sold it on (good model, but didn't get along with nitro) but its a big and heavy thing so i imagine would need quite a hefty brushless setup and possibly a 3s lipo to get it to perform to match its looks/size.

With no machine tools it'll be an uphill battle sorting the motor mount and there's so little room for the esc and battery pack :(

Finish all my restoration projects instead of (or before?) buying any more.

Projects =

Boomerang (needs body)

Wild One (needs body)

Bruiser (needs body)

Nitro USA-1 (needs body painting and engine mounts made)

EP USA-1 (needs body)

Clod Buster (need to replace destroyed body)

Clod Axle Monster truck (Currently just axles and tyres, need chassis/motors/esc/body)

Also would (still) really like to get a Juggernaut 1 or 2, and would love to build a tank of some description (maybe king tiger/kV2 ...or even 2A6).

There are a few things I want to achieve:

- Driving my first B-Final in the Belgian-Dutch 1/10 2WD Buggy Championship.

- Improving my FF Buggy Prototype.

Of course there are more things, but the focus will be on racing and getting to the results I just missed out on achieving last year (like that elusive B-Final)! :P

Let's see... looking around my hobby room, in no particular order:

Falcon - tear down, clean, re-body, retire to shelf

RC10LSS - paint new HPI Mustang body, set up for light driveway fun running

Clod Buster - install new ESC

Blackfoot #2 - install new ESC and hotter motor, maybe re-body as Monster Beetle

RC10T - finish restoration, set up as runner

RC10 Worlds - restore for shelf (for now)

Kyosho Raider - reassemble correctly (was new built but done badly), paint body

Pile of Kyosho Icarus/Pegasus parts - assemble into chassis for use with repro Cox Ultrastock body

RC10 CE #1 - disassemble, clean/bleach white parts, restore for shelf

RC10 CE #2 - re-body, lower suspension, set up for driveway running

RC10 CE #3 - (new built never run)... I haven't decided yet

M06 - paint/detail Mazda Miata body to look like my 1:1 Miata, shelf

Blackfoot #3 - (in pieces) clean, reassemble, try to figure out Associated Stealth gearbox conversion

DT02 Holiday Buggy - set up with cheap electronics to be the "take with me everywhere" car

...and there are probably other projects lurking in boxes that I can't remember right now.

And all that is in addition to building a Fender Stratocaster guitar, finishing the interior of my 1:1 Miata, starting on the bodywork on it, and then there's my daily driver Plymouth Neon, which may or may not need some engine work soonish. I have plenty of stuff to keep me busy. Don't need to even look at buying anything else.

I actually have no "projects" at the moment, as all my cars/trucks are in running order...

What I do have, is a project to improve my workspace. Basically get some organizers for tools, and generally clean up the area, add some shelves and containers...

In addition to that, I'm sure I'll be building up some of the NIB cars I have in my basement, and acquiring more new releases. (Not that I have the space or need for them!)

Cheers,

Skottoman

I'm looking at a transfer/job change in the next few months, so the plan is to do more selling than buying to lighten the load.

Sounds like we'll all be pretty busy!

My list is as follows:

1. Rebuild/rebody my TT01RA as a Subaru Impreza

2. Rebuild/rebody my M03 as a Fiat 500 rally car

3. Rebuild/rebody/remotor my TT01 stock racer as a drift car (possibly also Subaru Impreza, or maybe an old-school Skyline)

4. Rebuild/rebody/remotor my TT01 GT racer to suit local club racing (once I know what their 2013 rules are!)

5. Build and mod a Tamiya Farm King when they are released in the UK. (Might ask for one for my birthday if the timing is right)

6. Build up a TL01 as a rally car for my wife (if she finds that she enjoys driving mine, and if I can find a good used chassis for the right price)

...plus the inevitable repairs and maintenance to the other cars in my fleet that see regular use.

My objectives for this year are to start racing my wheeler along with my buggy. The second item is to shoot some new videos for my YouTube channel. I have neglected it for 4-5 months now. Got a new GoPro 3 and I'm excited about some ideas I have.

I just cannot see the BB as a realistic re-re but surely the Mounty will be released this year... come on Mr. T!

My aims for 2013 are

1. Finish the short wheel base Cox dune buggy bodied SRB ive being working on . Its 80% done and only needs a custom chassis plate paint and electrics adding .

2. Make some small improvements to the Heng Long Walker Bulldog i got for christmas . I've already started on the weathering but i want to add

a better speaker and proportional smoke units for a bit more realism . I have a few other tweaks in mind too . It needs some stowage as well .

3. Re build and re bodie my Belray Blitzer . The body was always a bit of a bodge fit and i want to make a proper one for it now i have seen how

well it looks and how it sould be done .

4. Just a bit of fun - fit a quad bike body to my 4x4x4 wild dagger / blackfoot project . Nice easy fun runner body .

5.Have another look at the Ford GPA Seep project i put up in the loft after getting frustrated with it last year .

Its still something i think i can do and i've learned a lot since then so it might be more do able now .

And lastly get as much run time and fun out of them as possiable .
