You could do this in your garage but it would require quite a bit of equipmnet and know how. It is a better idea to let the pro's do this. There is a previous thread on this subject. Do a search to see it.

thanks for the info. i did a search and found out that you cant do it at home and there doesnt appear to be a cheap way to do it in the uk.

Have you tried stuff like Bare Metal Foil or painting it with AlCladII lacquers?

BMF works great; have only just managed to buy the lacquer and haven't tried it yet.

All good model shops should carry BMF, its been out a long time they use them a lot in 1/24 plastic statics.

As for the lacquer, maybe you should contact the US manufacturer and find out what the UK supply situation is.

Hi Ruskins, there is a chrome platers in Cardiff that'll plate your plastic stuff. I don't know the name but it's on Newport road if you can find a list of the ones in south Wales.

As for doing it home..I've looked into this and from what I have read it's not possible, although anodising is quite straight forward for alloy parts.
