no disrespect but these re-make colour holiday buggies & wild willy 2 chassis vw van & farm tractor & street rover's are getting over vamped, maybe tamiya over looked the sales output & making changes to those cars..

horses for courses - i bet there's plenty of children who would love a Farm King wheelie, and the VW Camper (depsite all the quirky off scale looks). In Japan the Farm King and wheelie bus seem to be attracting a following for RC Football - makes a change from faster and faster Traxxas trucks.

Scorcher was always going to be a success - nostalgia, reliving your childhood, restoring older models and an iconic and much loved car shape. Bruiser is very much a nostalgia market model, as will any mountaineer/blazer re release - there is just no fun in those models for youngsters. My ten yr old would select a Lunchbox, Farm King or a VW Bus before a Scorcher, and a Scorcher before any 3 speeder (old or new) - irrespective of price - he just sees those models as more FUN.

Looks like the tamiya 1982?? superchamp wont make its 30yr anniversary appearance! grrrrrrr!.. yes we were all thinking it would show up :( time to buy a team blue groove body for my old superchamp chassis. no disrespect but these re-make colour holiday buggies & wild willy 2 chassis vw van & farm tractor & street rover's are getting over vamped, maybe tamiya over looked the sales output & making changes to those cars..

Lets continue the re-re line up tamiya lol.. I can not see a re-re blazer or hilux done in the future, it would of been done already as a 30yr anniversary, but tamiya like to surprise, so lets all hope the re-re's continue..

Aren't you jumping the gun a bit? It's only January 25th you know! Nearly every single re-release so far has been announced between April & November within the year with only the Bruiser being the exception. There WILL be more bona-fide re-releases to come but whether the Super Champ will be one of them is anyone's guess. Fingers crossed they will but I'd say that one of the plastics and/or the Mountaineer will be next.

i'd LOVE ... LOOOOOVE ... LOOOOOOO... ok ... a fox or superchamp re-re. some people don't like that the re-re's even exist, but i think it's great! if not for the re-re lunchbox i would never have even gotten back into tamiya stuff. making the cars (and the parts) easier to score is a win-win-win in my book! the only reason people would dislike it is if they see their vintage gear as $$ instead of what it is... awesome, historic nostalgic original stuff. there will always be an original picasso, or even a first run print... and art collectors shouldn't be bothered by the fact that the popularity is increased to a wider audience by the existence of posters and prints of these original classics.

Astute is one that i wouldn't mind seeing, anything of that ilk. I think now, like most, top of the tree is the 1/12 Dakar chassis for me, id love a 959, it would depress me to see the body mounted on something current, but, lets see, Tamiya, as stated before, have really pulled out some big surprises...........the Egress is still a no brainer though, its all out there in part form, just needs throwing in correct 2013 packaging lol.

Yeah I think the 959 is definitely the one that most people seem to want next. Let us hope that the article they did on it in the Tamiya magazine last year was a nudge nudge to us about what will happen. :)

I was just going to say that the Astute doesn't get many mentions regarding potential re-re's, but I see there's at least 2 that wouldn't mind!!

I'd certainly be buying one of those. Other than that, a 959, Egress, and Dyna Storm re-re-re please!

I still can`t afford a Bruiser right now although I already own most of the hop ups available  I would love to see a 959 and although originally the super champ had no appeal, that has all changed since I got a buggy champ. As beefcake said (for me it was the hotshot) if it was not for the re-re`s I`d have never got back into tamiya or found this fantastic site. I hope all the first 100 are eventually re-re`d as although I would not be intrested in the most we all have those that hold a special place in our memories !

oh tamiya spies who monitor these boards: don't listen to these off-world replicants! they have no feelings and don't understand that on-road cars are sissy. off-road is better. everybody knows that. sheesh. re-re the fox! or maybe re-re the supershot again and do it right this time. ;)

I'll second a re re Fox. Can you explain what you mean regarding the supershot and getting it right. I thought the 2012 supershot is supposed to be a decent 4x4 buggy. Steve.

tiny little bit dissapointed that there are not any rumors (yet) on the 2013 Nürnberg toyfare.

Rumour has it that they have cancelled the fair this year!

Now you just have to decide whether I'm serious or not.... :P

steve - there is no 2012 supershot. ! there is the 2012 super hotshot. go see what i mean. other than that, things like the access panel on the chassis aren't a big deal. i don't have one, but it's the same on my re-re hotshot and it's convenient. but at least they called the re-re hotshot the hotshot, the re-re frog the frog, the re-re lunchbox the lunchbox, etc, etc...

Posted

Yeah, I am guessing there is a name ownership/marketing thing why they never used Supershot this time. Like the Buggy Champ. I believe that there was another product registered as "Rough Rider" post the original release, so Tamiya went with it's original JDM name for the buggy when it came back.

big steve - you're making my point for me. super hotshot isn't supershot, and the name happens to be the most prominent feature of the body art. it's just annoying. granted all the re-re's have at least some little difference in the decals, etc. but mostly it's minor stuff to avoid sponsor logos. so the important stuff is intact.

what B.L.T. said might have something to do with why they ditched the name 'supershot' but it's still disappointing. imagine if they re-released the bear hawk and called it the bear owl or something. mechanically i'm sure it's fine - although be careful with the hotshot and boomerang gearboxes if you're restoring any b/c the vintage and re-re's have some small differences to be aware of. speaking from experience!

Yes & it has been pointed out , when they came out .

Old used the C clips & the New use E clips & some strengthening here & there .

You can use the new G parts , But you have to use the E clips .

Since the E clips are bigger than the C , They move the bearing out more .

To allow for the E to fit & not bind up the gears .ETC .

Bring on the FOX & Egress , I'm waiting !! Hello , "testing" HELLO can you hear me .

 . I do want more , Like the blazing blazer , Super champ , Fox , Egress , 959 &

Toyota celica 4WD , ford F150 xlt , hotshot 2 & super sabre , to name a few .

Not that I'm greedy or anything :D ....
