Ansmann Racing no more....

Recommended Posts

Real shame, ordered some ever reliable Ansmann Shocks from our friends at Fusion, just got an email with following news:

"Unfortunately, Ansmann Racing have announced that they are closing at the end of January and we have sold out of the 201000037 (thats the shocks) and they are not getting any more in before the end of January"

Always sad to hear news like this :(

There are some official letters/documents on this on oOple - one stating that Ansmann would stop their racing cars - a few weeks later a new letter was posted, stating that the distribution would be continued by Dickie-Tamiya... My expectations are low on that one considering how bad spared availability is for Tamiyas out here in the Netherlands (and elsewhere in Europe as well).

Fear not though, the brand 'Team C' has exactly the same cars and parts, it's just a different name for marketing purposes (I believe it was intended for the Asian market, whereas Ansmann was meant to cover the European market).

That's a shame! I think Ansmann offer good products at a fair price.

Still, sounds like Team C has it covered :-)

Hope someone continues to supply their steel pinions - i've probably got a 50/50 mix of Ansmann and RW Racing branded ones

Carson Modelsport offers metric steel pinions for a lot of Tamiya R/C cars. I got mine from them and they work pretty much flawless.

Please let me understand: Ansmann Racing closes only with the racing cars or close all business, so also boats etc etc?

Be interesting to see how Tamiya pricing for the DT02 based buggies, plus Rising Fighter, goes over the next 6 months then as there realy isn't anyone else at the £50-75 price point bar the Kyosho Sand Master.

Percymon, luckily there is still competition price-wise:

Ansmann Racing was the distributor of some of TeamC's vehicles (Mad Rat RR Buggy, Mad Monkey RMR Buggy, Macnum RR Stadium Truck). Absima is the new distributor of TeamC products since 2012 and I assume Absima isn't related to Ansmann anymore. So they will continue to sell the products above (under the names Jekyll (RR buggy) Lupus (RMR buggy) and Hyde (RR ST)). You can't expect them to be 100% parts compatible, but 99% may be still true.

Quoted from the thread I mentioned above. :)

For instance, the Jekyll kit is very affordable at just 59 €.

Well time will tell whether these low price models continue to be sold in the UK, as TeamC doesn't really exist currently to my knowledge, at least not with the big model retailers

Just ordered a Ansmann Deuce nitro buggy kit from Modelsport for £79. The kit alone usually sells for £190!. This will be my first foray into nitro cars, so i hope i have done the right thing!. I couldn't pass up the kit at that price, will need to get an engine and radio, servo's, and fuel etc, but that can wait for now.

This will probably be my only runner, as i still collect Tamiya rc, but dont tend to run them when ive got them built!.

Colin.
