As titled :)

I own (and I use) a Ko Propo Ex-5 Ur , I love it but I'm forced to spend at least 60,00 euros for a receiver and to use digital servos (fortunately BlueBird servos work perfectly with Ko) and for non-expensive cars, in my opinion, it's a nonsense.

So, I'm looking for a cheaper 2,4 ghz pistol grip radio with cheaper receivers, suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Carson Modelsport Reflex Wheel Pro II LCD:

3-channel transmitter with 15 model memory, around 40 €. Comes with a 5-channel BEC equipped receiver.

This is the transmitter I'm using mostly. Feels much better than the cheap Flysky GT2 and similiar transmitters, although it is clearly not as high end as an expensive Futaba. Great and bulletproof radio range.

Additional receivers will cost around 17 €:

The transmitter and receiver combo is $36. Extra receivers are $6.

Thank you :)

Unfortunately italian customs will not make this radio so cheap: normally the small and light packet with a single servo inside is not charged with Vat and taxes (don't ask me why... italian customs is a sort of mistery box  ) but I've experienced that the a bigger box like the one of a radio set will not pass too easly and price, magically, will be doubled <_< .

You are either going to have to risk the customs charges, or buy locally by the sounds of it.

Cheaper 2.4ghz sets from the likes of Acoms are no better than the Hobbyking ones, and the Rxs cost 25-30 euros each.

If you buy within the EU, you should not pay charges, just shipping.

You could buy the Ansmann version of the H'king one locally and then just use the H'king RXs ?

I've got an Acoms Technisport 2.4Ghz II (this one without the LCD, not the Technisport Hayabusa with LCD), and although it does fine with my brushed-only TEU-302BK ESCs, it does glitch often with two of my brushless speed controllers (both types of ESCs are BEC equipped, while the Acoms GR-24 receiver isn't). Tried another Acoms GR-24 receiver after the first one was damaged due to driving in the snow, but with the same results.

The Carson receivers I mentioned above work still trouble-free in any situation.

Its the same Acoms my son uses in his mod clod and lunchbox. I'm not impressed with the quality of the handset plastics (inferior to the hobbyking one !) and the prices of the RX at £24 each is prohibitive if you have numerous runners.

hi, you could pick up a lower end spektrum dsm2 transmitter and buy some orange rx g300 receivers which are only $10 each , although they dont like ni-cad or ni-mh so li-po only , the hobby king 2.4 systems are ok but my friend has one and the rx's hate moisture, hes killed two already after driving in slighty wet grass , for dry running though they are hard to beat. it may be worth waiting a while as hobby king are rolling out new orang rx systems , they are pretty much clones of the spektrum top end systems and i am expecting a dx3r pro clone soon.

Whath about Spectrum receiver? Does it work only with Lipo like the clone?

I think that it could be necessary for me to buy super cheap receivers because, actually, I'm forced to spend at least 50 euros and buying 2 receivers at the same price of 1could be fine.:

the spektrum sr3100 seems fine with ni-cad/ni-mh apart from when used with a castle sidewinder sv2 , when i try that the recievers go into failsafe just like the orx clones , i think its to do with the very high initial voltage of the older battery technology and the bec circuits , most manufacturers give bec outputs based on li-po these days which has a peak out of 8.4v , some of my old ni-cd manage 9.5v at peak charge , its the only reason i can think of that would cause the failsafe to kick in ,

Personally I'd buy a cheap $100 Futaba Tx and convert it to use Corona's 2.4GHz DSS or FrSKy's 2.4GHz ACCST system. The Corona and FrSKY Rx are about $13 each and are proven to be very reliable.

Excuse me, I do not understand what you are trying to say. I assume you want to know the specifications of this receiver or where else this product is available?

Sorry, my english is not so good as I wish

I'm interested in the dimensions of the receiver... it's only for curiosity because I'm going to buy Carson radio set.

No trouble whatsoever. :)

The dimensions for the Carson 5-channel BEC-receiver #501514 are:

Length x width x height

46,5 x 29 x 13mm

modellbau-metz.de_caro9lc6.jpg

There's also a compatible 4-channel receiver Carson #501512 without BEC. The BEC socket is in fact just a BAT-socket.

Length x width x height

35 x 26 x 14mm

I use both receivers in my cars, depending on the available space and type of speed controller. Both receivers have worked flawless since then. That Carson Reflex Wheel Pro / Reflex Wheel Pro LCD transmitter is also the same system that Kyosho supplies with their recent RTR R/C cars, just rebranded as KT-200 (no LCD) and KT-201 (with LCD).

There's also a waterproof 5-channel BEC receiver Carson #501522 available.

Thank you very much! The second one doesn't look so big (but footprint isn't a problem anyway) and considering that all the ESC I use are all BEC equipped (Tamiya and Robitronic) it's fine for me :)

Cheers, the non-BEC receiver is a small one, indeed (although not as small as some of Acoms' and Futaba's micro sized receivers). And it is cheaper than the BEC-receiver, too.

The one with BEC however is even slightly larger than some of the newer AM/FM receivers, but still shouldn't cause any trouble in most chassis. Don't forget, there's always the possibility to retrofit a cheap external BEC, like Carson #906150 or whatever brand. :)

The Jang did a review of the Kyosho RTR radio system that comes with their kits and he had problems with the radio's range. If the Carson system is the same buyer beware.

I have seen that review you refer to. I wonder if these problems were caused by some faulty wiring or any other faulty electronics. I can't blame that radio system at all.

I've got three of these transmitters (Carson Reflex Wheel Pro LCD #500033, Carson Reflex Wheel Pro2 LCD #500037, Kyosho KT-200) and had no problems over a whole year. My brother has a Reflex Wheel Pro2 LCD too, for his Tamiya Monster Beetle and Carson Porsche.
