I always wanted a Mud Blaster so when this came up on E Pay I bought it.

I wanted a Chrome body set from the re re Brat so all the bits were purchased . I ditched the pathetic shocks & added some alloy threaded ones all round . I set of Jun Fac rear Frog alloy shock mounts was added to replace the stock week versions.

A Frog under bash plate went on to offer a little more protection. I have purchased a team CRP upper front tower support brace but have to custom make a few brackets to finish that conversion. I centered the steering servo & placed the ESC down the bottom of the chassis for better COG..For power wise I used a Reedy 18x2 motor with a nice machined alloy adj motor mount for gearing options.

The wheels were the hardest to get right and after a few attempts I ended up with this monster combo .Chrome Blackfoot 3 wheels with deep dish rims. This proved to be a real pain as the wheels are all hex drive fitments even though the Blackfoot 3 is only 2wd!!!! I loved the wheels so much I had to some how make the front hex fitting to work. The rear was easy with Frog alloy hex drives which solved that.

For the front I modified a set of Hot Shot front knuckles to fit inside the Mud Blasters C carrier . I then used Manta Ray king pins. Hot Shot stub axles spin on bearings with the hex mounting. The Bump steer was quite bad so a set of Hot shot steering hub ball stud was used ( Long ones in the Hot Shot) Bump steer is a lot better but still like to improve on it. A 12kg MG digital steering servo was added for the task of steering the huge wheels.

Almost finished all I have to do is sort the front springs out. Need a lot softer ones as the front is still very light being a Frog chassis.

Comments welcome good or bad LOL.

Nothing unusual here, another typical MAD RACER example, looking unbelievably clean and tidy, fantastic job as always mate, love your work.

Hey MR, Mega Muddy you've built there. Well done, she's a beaut. Have you thought about or got a pc shell for running ?

Thanks guys.

That 50calibercustoms.com makes some nice stuff but out of stock on alot of items.

mtbkym01 thanks and you have awesome builds that i watch.

Thommo I want to run it the way it is but everyone said it's too nice to run. So I might have to do another shell the same. I have a Brat with a pc shell and really love the deep tray that the hard shell offers.

I will have to wait & see but if it does get run it will be lightly for a few action shots.

Cheers

Looks Awesome! I'm just trying to sort out my old mud blaster but having trouble sorting out the drive. Suspected the long/short gearbox joint as pin in middle was not the correct/original however the joint I've received fits the gearbox well but doesn't take the hex drive shafts. Any advice/recommendations for parts would be much appreciated to help me get this classic back on the road

For this gearbox there are no long/short gearbox joints. Neither should have a fixed center pin. Both sides are open in the center for the pin to float between them. You probably have a joint from one of the -shot series gearboxes.

Update guys.

Nope couldn't run it. The body set looks too nice and the chrome shell is worth too much now. Should have bought 2 of them. LOL
