Rolled Pinstripe.

Recommended Posts

Has anybody tried to use rolled pinstripe as the maskingtape for fine lines.

It tends to bend better and it has a film to protect it while you put it on. Its also paint-resistant. In fact I'm going to try some today, I'll post pics later tonight.

So far I'm very happy with the results. Very little bleeding only one part came up and that was where the primer lifted as well. My line was super straight and easy to pull off.

Pics soon I swear.

Mornin'

How wide is this pinstripe to start with? Is it 1:1 scale decoration, or is it specifically a masking product?

It is made for full size cars. The size that I bought:

1/4" x 40' tomato red.

1/8" x 40' blue

5/16" x 40' vivid blue.

As the body gets finish the 5/16" will give me a double stripe and I used the 1/4" for the body stripe on the side.

The products name is PROSTRIPE

Company Name:

Spartan International Inc.

1845 S. Cedar St

Holt, MI 48842

This can be found in any autoparts store. I have found a hobby version at my LHS but I can't remember who makes it. I like it because I can bend it. <--way better than tamiya tape!!

I'll post some more pics on how I mask it in a couple hours.

Hi Sean:

How did the pinstrips do around complex curves? I've alway had a problem with those.

I'm just getting ready to do the top of it right now. I think the stuff does better than the maskingtape does for sure.
