I was wondering if the old boil the tires method will remove the tires glued to my Monster Beetle Rims too. I am afraid of damaging the gold rims by doing this. If anyone has experience with this let me know please.

Thanks

Hi,

My mate boiled the tyres off his Terra Crusher to use on another set of alloy wheels. With a little bit of help from a blunt knife he managed to do it without too much damage to either the wheels or the tyres. I think that the chrome plating must be similiar to plating on you wheels. Just take it nice and easy...

The chrome plating itself will probably sustain the boiling, the transparent gold/yellow paint not. I have removed the transparent gold/yellow paint on the Supershot and Fox wheels just with hot water, and Monster Beetle wheels are from the same time, so the gold paint is probably the same type.

That would definately be a problem... Does anyone know another way to remove the tires then as I want to try to keep the wheels intact?

Have you tried Acetone or CA debonder?

That would be one solution but currently funds are tight and I want to use this less expensive alternative. Good idea though

Depending on the plastic used on the wheels Acetone/CA debonder can melt them. I found that out on a set of Clio wheels!
