Hi my eldest lad wanted me to post a couple of pics of his first RC on here as he's so proud of it, makes me feel like i did back in the eighties with my tamiya ford ranger, I reckon we'll have to go down the line of brushless with his car though as it just can't keep up with his younger brothers kyosho sandmaster or my holiday buggy, if anybody has one of these trucks on here and has put in a decent brushless system i would be grateful for any advice, cheers.

ahh , the first RC, its a special feeling, the truck looks awesome ;):) ,I do like ansmann cars , I have a few. Shame its not a Tamiya , every kids first rc car should be a Tamiya , guess it would help if Tamiya would pull their fingers out and put out a short course truck :P , happy driving .

The Ansmann 1/10 scale 2WD range of offroad cars have ball diffs and some plastic gears, both will wear out soon when using some very powerful brushless motors. The Core SC is basically a Mad Rat with SC wheels and bumpers. Brushless motors around 3500kV (around 12 turns) should be still fine with the gearbox, though. The resulting speed should be adequate to let passing by people stand in awe.

If the car is equipped with plastic bushings (most basic Ansmann kits are), be sure to replace them with ball bearings first.

Thanks for the nice reply alfagta, I let my lad see the post tonight when I got in from work and he was really suited that someone else thought he had an awesome truck, I agree with what you say about every kids first car should be a Tamiya, I always built Tamiyas when I were young but nowadays they seem to be so expensive , or maybe i'm just tight, the Ansmann kit came in at £69 and you do seem to get quite a bit of car for your money, the only downside at the moment is the poor top end speed but after reading GregM's reply I 'm gonna look at putting in a basic brushless kit to see if that speeds things up a bit, the one thing that the core did have on my holiday buggy & the sandmaster was the ability to get through deepish snow with them huge wheels and tyres, can't wait to get all three cars on the beach come the good weather, fingers crossed !!.
