Great score .

We have one in our insect class ( Live rear axle class)

It goes really well. They go better with a locked pivot pin . Not a rolling version like the Hornet.

Well done

ahh the grasshopper 2 was one of the more "recent" tamiyas that really caught my eye! i wish i had a box. not in a perverse way, like a grasshopper 2 super G box. i'd love to have a NIB kit even more but i don't think i've ever seen one for sale. anyone with a NIB want to trade??

The Grasshopper II was my second Tamiya back in the days, and it was awesome. I threw in a faster Yokomo motor, and it was tons of fun.

Every time I see one these I want one argghh. Isn't it like that with most of these beauties?

I can understand why you would want to put a classic like this on the shelf, but it seems a pity to miss out on the fun of running it, especially since you say you have a Hornet on the way too.

You could of course put your classics on the shelf, and get a couple of their modern equivalents for day-to-day running. The Rising Fighter springs to mind, sharing the same chassis as the GHII/Super Hornet, but with a DT01 gearbox and slightly modified Super Hornet bodyshell. Very attractively priced, it gives the same driving feel as the classics, but with the guilt-free usability of a cheap new car.

Or there is the DT01-based Mad Bull, that wears a slightly modified GHII shell. Fit it with conventional buggy wheels/tyres and you have what would effectively be a Grasshopper III if Tamiya chose to market it as such. These are the two vehicles chosen by my wife and myself for general bashing, and they serve us well.

My dayglows are OK but not immaculate. Next challenge is to find a full set of brand new ones (that don't cost too much). They're pretty rare and I've seen a pair for just under £20.

I'd happily pay that for a full set but not half a set.

Do you have some color in mind for this buggy?

Hey mate, looking to have an Insect Class race at our upcoming Vintage Day, can you give some details on your ruleset etc?

Cheers :)
