Aka Paul King, just wanted to give him a shout. What a top bloke to deal with, he has made it possible for me to complete my srb vintage nib collection. He has supplied me with all Barr the scorcher. So a big thank you and all the best!

Top guy, shame he copped abuse from idiots via email like a few other members here have. I think that's part of why he doesn't come on here anymore!

I tend to just stop by now and again, and it can be months between visits. Each time I return, it seems one or two more long-time collectors no longer post much on the forums.

Which unfortunately leaves 99% of the vintage threads here as "How to" discussions about specific repairs or mods. Or discussions about re-releases. Neither of which are as appealing or as all-inclusive to vintage enthusiasts, as topics that are about the love of vintage buying, hunting, collecting, and the history of R/C. Ultimately, these are the things that drove members like Loaded to amass their amazing collections.

I know any suggestions about creating new subforums will get shot down in flames instantly :) But I think all discussions about repairs, mods, upgrades, and general technical work should have their own section. All I ever do when I come to TC, is scroll through pages and pages of topics about people's builds and repairs, to find one or two topics with a more general, conversational type of tone, related to the appeal or fun or nostalgia of vintage RC.

Perhaps if more space was exclusively reserved for those types of vintage conversations, TC would actually seem more pro-vintage-ethusiasm.

Whereas now, I think these forums have evolved in such a way that they are dominated by tech-support discussions, and re-releases.

2 cents, that's all!

cheers,

H.

Its interesting that forums have gone that way in general. People in threads always pushing to get the discussion back to the original post. Personally I like the how to's and builds, for me it means people are actually using the cars for their intended purpose which is being driven. I also love reading the history threads. I often find "time line" of manufacturer threads very interesting eg the history of tomy making rc cars interests me greatly

I'm in for that Hiber. I am brand new to the club and pretty much brand new "back to the hobby" I personally like both new AND Vintage cars to be honest and not just Tamiya. However I also realize each of those topics should go in each of their own list of topics. Now I have added a topic in the wrong place here at least once and it wasn't on purpose :-) This website can be confusing at first. Anyway....

I enjoy just reading what a lot of you post and pictures as well. A lot can be learned from just sitting here reading and looking at pics from you "Old School" guys. I have an awful lot to learn and only a small collection but I have picked up 2 vintage cars NIB and plan on more. Some of the stuff you guys do is absolutely amazing. I mean how do you even think of that?! I have a lot to learn and am just glad to be here reading these posts. I am also lucky enough to have a good job with no Wife or Kids, so my money goes to CARS! I would like to consider myself as a "Serious Collector" but then you hear about Loaded! Geez I couldn't even hold his Jock Strap from what I hear the collection he has

Funny thing is I just talked to another collector this week about Loaded. He asked me if I have seen or heard of a fellow on the Tamiya Club that goes as Loaded. Last week I had not heard of him :-) I personally have never met or seen him here in the site but Lee, the guy I bought my Celebration Javelin from, gave him a very high praise.

Lee is the gentleman I bought my Javelin from last week and have stayed in contact with. He told me that he bought the first 100 Tamiya Cars NIB kits from Loaded years ago and still has them. So it is a small world for sure.

I hope all is well with Loaded as I don't know him but he sounds like a truly nice guy.

Keep up the good work Tamiya Club
