Nicad battery care

Recommended Posts

He Renegade88,

Nicd battery's should always be stored discharged!

If you dont they will get the memory effect wich means that they want to go to the last know charge as fast as posible wich decreases runtime.

Discharge them to 0.9V per cell that is 5.4 Volt per pack and store them.

if you don't have a discharger or one with voltage indication then drive your car until it won't go no more.

You can also use a lightbulb discharger (don't let the bulbs go out completely or your pack will damage).

-Whacky.

Hi Darryl,

I have sent you mail with answers to the most common questions regarding NiCad batteries just a few hours ago, as you asked me. [:)] I am glad if I couls help out, if you like you can post my info as a quote here on the boards - but I think most of us will already know.

(In my mail I also pointed out it is prefered to store a NiCad battery empty.)
