hi fella's,

just wondering what servo tape you guys use?

, i have used parma branded stuff for years but the roll has almost run out so i will need some more , the parma stuff gets the job done and i will be getting some more but does lose its adhesion after a while which is fine when the car gets stripped after a run for wet cleaning ,but, i am trying to find some really sticky stuff for my Tamiya cars that tend to be left fairly stock and dont need stripped for cleaning all that often , i like the supplied Tamiya kit stuff but its very expensive and have never found it in roll form.

thanks for all suggestions, :)

I'm still using a sheet of dead man's grip I got from eBay , it's been used on about 8 models without issue and still have enough for another 2 or 3.

This stuff by far is the stickiest I've run into:

The foam layer will rip before the adhesive will let go. I think this stuff may be 3M VHB based. It makes sense given RJ Speed makes pan cars and the servo really is only taped down.

The servo tape that OFNA supplies with their kits behaves the same way. It'll tear before the adhesive lets go.

Novak tape is almost as strong, but doesn't tear during removal. It has a clear inner layer instead of a black foam inner layer.

Tamiya tape is actually the weakest tape I've used.

I use trim tape for 1:1 cars and it works great

if it can hold parts on your real car at 100+ mph you just know its going to hold servos etc fine & it looks the same as the Tamiya stuff when its on :)

2nd for that stuff speedy recommended. i think it's the same make as some duratrax tape (tower hobby = duratrax) i also got. worked 10x as well as the stock stuff, even over imperfect surfaces. i almost ripped a few esc's and receivers in half just trying to pry them off.

after this stuff i tried some transparent jelly-like tape that i though would also be good but it's terrible! it's a pain to get the plastic off and it loses its stickiness if it touches anything other than the intended (and immaculately clean) surfaces. if you touch it with your finger it won't stay on. with the other stuff, if you touch it with your finger you can't get it off without using something non-finger to stick it to!

I use Halfords mirror pads, ive never had a servo come away, ever.....clean the surfaces well with alcohol too and warm the pad.

I've used only Tamiya's double sided tape so far, and I like it, as it doesn't leave any residue when it has been removed. However, it did not want to stick on some materials - ABS chassis tubs and polystyrene were fine, but some metal cased servos repelled the tape.

The clear stuff that Novak includes with their ESCs is by far the best I've ever used. It always has a red backing film. For whatever reason, Novak only sells it in small squares for a **** load of money. Then I found out Parma sells the same stuff but in a roll. I bought one for $5 and have never needed to purchase servo tape again. Part number 8044.

BTW: That red backing can be quite a task to peel up. lol

So the Parma tape is clear like Novak? I'd probably go in that direction as well. The Tamiya tape is ok, but not as strong as I'd like. The black foam tape from RJ Speed and OFNA is almost too strong and distintegrates when trying to remove it, but I'd still use it for pan cars. I do like the Novak tape in general and will buy a roll of the Parma in the future if they're essentially the same.

So the Parma tape is clear like Novak?

I've used both and think they are identical. Probably the exact same manufacturer. Just a lot cheaper from Parma.

Best part is you won't spend an hour cleaning up the stuff should you try to remove your components like the typical black foam-tape.

The clear Novak and Parma are both from 3M Scotch 4010 clear mounting tape. This stuff is the absolute best and when you need to remove it, there is no residue

^Great find. The 3M pack looks to hold twice the contents of the Parma stuff for the same price.

Yep that's the stuff.
