Hey, whatever floats your boat. If Tamiyaman wants to have every kit released, more power to him. Who are we to say what his motivations are, and what does it matter. I have to aggree with GZ, how do you stop from building them?!?[?]

Simen, I have had.... Please no personal accusations or insults here, lets keep this great friendly attitude here, there is nothing to fight for, we all do this hobby for fun, thank you

I think Tamiya Man has a great collection that allmost every one on here would like to own (build or not)... GOOD FOR HIM!!

(not to mention his 1:1 cars [8D] )

(who does with his tamiyas whatever he pleases [;)] )

You are right, who wouldn't like all those Tamiyas [8D], or a room full of cash $$$, or Playboy girls [;)]?

I also agree, good for him, think he deserves it and got it with hard work [8D][^]

Still though personally other collections cause me bigger desire per car (relative desire or desire density [:P]), like the ones from toykmr, shodog, synchrocnc, bao bao, lemansrc.com and many more, as I said though per car, as a total I would preffer TamiyaMans collection and have the cars built by those [8D]

Sweet dreams[:)], but now back to reality [8)][V]

I though he was super rich, but i beleive he owns a hobby shop... and has been collecting since the early 80's i believe - still very very jealous [:I] good luck to him - no point in being *****y...

id="quote">id="quote">

LOL I see you didn't really got the point of what I was saying. All I meant to say with the first paragraph, is the then the words 'size and 'love' come to mention, that another subject comes to mind. Don't you ever get those silly spam e-mail with these words? Darryn's comments seem to be a little bit sensitive to these misunderstandings though. Not that it really matters but it can be funny at times. [:P]

Just for the numbers? Well, I can't decide for Ron what his motives are. But that's a feeling I think I would get when nearing 'having them all' I'm affraid. Ron also said: "im missing unbuilt 58020,58024,58025,58026,58028,58039,58044", which leaves an impression that kit numbers are important. [;)]

To me your statement seems more like a poor mans (boy) comfort! I remember you said something similar when I got my NIB SS and NIB WW pretty quick after I got into this hobby! The great thing though is to appreciate whatever you have!

id="quote">id="quote">

It seems like just don't understand the point of what I am saying. Also I don't need to make silly comment to make me feel confortable - I'm fine. You have to understand, that I find it comfortable to have something to look out for. A wise Tamiya enthusiast told me once. I didn't want to beleive at first also but now I realise that it makes a lot of sense. But if it doesn't work for you fine - but respect my way of thinking!

Back to the subject:

'Having them all' is my greatest dream, yet my greatest nightmare! What to do next? Luckily that won't be soon for me though, so I have no need to worry about that. Also I agree with Theo, that collections of built vehicles often hold more desriability for the reasons he mentioned. [8D]

Lucky for me I gave up on the collector hobby,I found out it is hard and I was spending way to much $$$$,This addiction started when I discovered EBAY! I wanted to see if I could find a nib of my first ever rc car ( a kyosho raider) I found one and bid for it and won it,from there I got crazy and bid on 3 more! and basicly spent whatever I had to, to win them I have 5 raiders now!! one is a turbo raider wich is cool. My blackfoot was a gift from dad about 11 years ago and I pulled off the shelf again a few months ago opened the box and instantly got the tamiya bug!! I ended up building it and quickly discovered it was difficult to locate things for an outdated truck and it was a shame to bash it up when I could go get a twin detonator which is pretty cool,to use as my all out fun machine. so the foot rest on the shelf in mothballs! and I am placing an order for a twin detonator! I think one of these is going to be my best rc's ever! I have a good feeling! I guess I can say I am not a real collector, just want to enjoy the moment of assembling a hi tec well engineered kit and taking mega hours to perfect everthing, and charge up the pack and slam through a thick mud slick track!! ahhhh nib no more!!

everybody has their reasons for what they want to collect. If Tamiya man is trying to collect all of them, then god for him. It doesn't make him any less of an enthusiast just cause he wants to collect all the cars NIB

I would love to have his collection but would hate the storage issues attributed to such an extensive collection.

I agree, this all comes down to a misunderstanding. I was just talking about my own impression of how I would experience shaving such collection. I guess it fair to say that for me such a huge NIB collection might not work for me, that it would be too collosal (A single NIB is... etc.). But maybe that changes over time, who knows? [:)]

It all comes down to "whatever floats your boat". I wasn't trying to make Tamiya man look a fool or anything, if he is very happy with his collection, his collection is great! And I also find it quite impressive to be able to obtain and hold so many models, and so many different ones. [;)]

I would like to say thanks to Theo for helping me and Simen keeping this a friendly place. These misunderstandings have come across before and that will likely happen again. But the fact we (and not ALWAYS just me and Simen [:P] ) are able to make up and forgive each others mistakes shows a clear sign about our great community! I think that we are still a great example of 'how it should be' to other forums, we can be proud of that! [^]

To Simen: No hard feelings! [8D] And it's Sjoerd, DOH! [:P]

I think I may owe an appology here too, my earlier post was meant to be light hearted, but on re reading it sounded arrogant and sarcastic so I deleted it. Theo handled it much better so in future I'll stay out and let the mods handle these things [:I]

The sense of unity and humor in this forum is fantastic [^] to all.

And once again a fine collection to be proud of TamiyaMan [:D]

Poor old Big Al is probably wondering what he started with this one LOL.

very nice collection[^] i viewed it a long time ago and it still shocks me even now how many kits TamiyaMan has.

i tell you what thow, if someone collected every tamiya, a nib example, a built example, and a well used one, that would be sweet[:P]

you could open a tamiya museum!

one of you guys get the nib ones, someone else get the new built, and i will get the broken ones, LOL[;)]

Geez...I started this thread lasr summer and it has resurfaced again! What happened?? It seems that this thread started some static between a few club members for a brief moment. As long as everything is back to normal now! Anyways, I think it's awesome that TamiyaMan is only a few kits away from completing the collection. How many people do you know that have conquered this feat?? Sure I am just as envious as when I first posted this thread....but since then, I now have my own 2004 Mini Cooper [:P]!!!

I suppose you have a great talent to make the broken ones yourself, if you live up to your name. [:P]

..and Tamiyaman is a great guy to deal with too! I've bought some nice items (thru eBay) from him, always great packing, service and communication! I think he is a great asset and inspiration to Tamiya collection in general!

Keep it up Ron!

How the heck did I get dragged into this!! [:D]

Perhaps Sjoerd - a little less over analysing and typing - and a little more thinking about what you say and how you say it would be better? [?] [:D] After all - you have told me yourself on occasions that spoken word in person is easily understood - unlike emails and forums! [:D]

Perhaps we should all enjoy eachothers collections for what they are - I think we do already.........to many theories and conjectures only get in the way of the models - and that is what we are here to enjoy.

Good On you RON - keep going !!

p.s - Theo and I think the same on this subject...lotsa good stuff there - but other stuff is more important to us personally.

Cheers

Darryn, you are right. I admit that I sometimes say things that are easily misinterpetated, I'm sorry about that. But also I find that people should not shout from the rooftops because someone didn't got quite the point of what I was saying. I suppose it's a 2 sided thing. [8D]

Though we already got to that conclusion, I think it's nice that you agree with me for a change, Darryn! Not that I expected otherwise in this case, if there is one that knows how to enjoy his Tamiya madness... [^]

Yup, what I would experience a big collection is only interresting to myself perhaps. But I thought I would share my controversial view with you. [;)] Oh well, at least we didn't end up in a mud slinging match - even if one throws a little too much fuel on the fire that is called a 'heated discussion'. End good all good I guess. [:)]

Ron, enjoy your collection! But I hope you also have an equal ammount of runners though, that'd be 10 times as nice as the NIB's only - would it be interresting to show those as well? [:P]

Somehow this reminds me of what I wise man once said: Opinions are like XXXXholes - everybody has one! [:D]

SOMETIMES those opinions stink though, when not considered before typing - just like the potty word used above - please reframe from poor language Sjoerd - cheers - Darryn [:D]id="blue">id="size1">

I just thought I would bring this thread back to life again to make sure that everyone's differences are settled!! LOL! Just kidding! I just read through this whole thread again and it was actually very amusing! I never even noticed that Quedex called me stupid at the beginning of this thread! I guess it is too late now to respond to that! haha!

Just a question for Tamiyaman:

Where did you store all these boxes? Maybe you need an industrial storage!

Cheers

Max

Post Scriptum: please leave some kit for us on the net. Don't buy all ones, please![;)] Ciao!
