I got one too dismantled/reassembled twice thinking it was something I'd done. I really had to twist rear cage to get it on, and still can't figure out exacly where problem is, suspected roll bar at first but thats plumb with holes for pipe joints exacly same height, I then gave up. Glad I'm not alone though.

Oh yeah and the holes for swing arm pins not in alighnment was another theory for swing arm height differences but I'm yet to measure them. (I'd really lost interest by this point and had already picked up another car)

This is pretty common. There are little nubs on the arms that limit travel. There might be little indents in the gear case where the nubs have worn away the metal. You can fix this problem by useing a coilover shock set and getting rid of the torsion bars.

I just had a strip (not pretty) and it seems to be the 'nubs' on the swingarms (travel stops) (Sorry Jim, still typing whilst you were)

Reckon I might grind mine off and put a couple of 'O' rings at the top of the shock shaft (inside shock) instead

It actually looks reletively straight accept for the rear cage. If you loosen off the bolts ( or make sure it's not catching anywhere ) then you should be able to get it straighter before tightening the bolts again.

It's common when you get something that is attached in the way the rear cage is that it will twist as you do up the bolts.
