Recommended Posts

they will be cut buy water jet don`t ask me how but thats how they cut cabon its just another thing im looking in to for my self but i need to buy some carbon fibre dose any one in the uk where i can buy some and they deliver? i`m off to them tomorrow with my parts to show them

about the top force mounts (all) i been to few engineering shops c.b.l,k.l.k ,d.j.s to see if i can get them done 100% prefect but your having to pay the price a hole set with the plastic j part that holds the front gear box on the right £74.00 :( just over £8.00 each  but d.j.s can do just the front and rear mounts and the steering mounts for £30.00.

im focus on the the carbon fibre part the moment

I've looked at various 'carbon fibre' suppliers on eBay and via google and the materials vary in quality and price. To get a carbon fibre glossy face on both sides you need to look at 'pre-prag' quality which is costly - £100 for a A3 sheet, £50 for A4. A4 is enough to cut all the Top Force parts, but..

ideally you want 2mm thickness for the chassis decks, and 3mm thickness for the shock mount plates

Fibre-lyte already sell suitable pre cut, finished and drilled components for various models including the Top Force - they sell in full carbon fibre versions (CF sheets for all layers) and CSC grades (CF faces, glass fibre intermediate layers).

When i went through the exercise looking at doing my own Egress components, or giving Fibre-lyte the materials and payign them just for machine time, the saving wasn't that great - especially after factoring in the unknown quality of any material i'd sourced for them

My full CF Egress parts are £97 delivered, their Top Force parts are a bit cheaper for full carbon (ca £75 from recollection) and ca £60 for CSC variant

I bought some CF sheet from kit-carbon and carbon-mods on eBay - both are single glossy faced, dull black glass weave on the reverse - perhaps OK for chassis plates that will only need a glossy surface on the top (bottom hidden by undercowl), but for shock towers you really need glossy both sides.

I'll had correspondence with a pre-preg supplier, which i'll dig the info out for you when i'm back home tonight, but it was silly prices and nothign to say any better than fibre-lyte own materials.

you can buy the Top force (non evo) parts still on ebay - ca £45 delivered for the decks and the shock towers - i appreciate these are FRP but they've stood the test of time, and whilst perhaps not as sexy looking for a shelf example, are more than adequate for running

have been working on a Mount set too, with some extra's ^_^

complete set with wingmount bodymount an J12 all same shape, and a stay for saddlepack mount

we are now working on how to best produce those for a small price.

will be interresting to see if you can get a full carbon set made that beats fibre-lytes pricing.
