3 channel for a Crawler

Recommended Posts

I need some advice guys please . I'am looking to buy a 3 channel outfit for a trail runner / crawler project . The third Channel will be for remote winch control and i think i would perfer some sort of toggle switch to activate it . Can any one point me towards a quality but resonable priced 2.4 gig one ?

Most winches now are a full proportional channel to control them, so a 2 plus type with the switch for left or right doesn't work for them

Is this what you're looking at?

http://os.3racing.hk/products.php?products_key=3686

Because it looks like you can get away with steering, throttle, and a 2-position switch or pushbutton per these instructions:

http://www.3racing.hk/manuals/CR01-27%20Manual.jpg

Even a stock GT3C should be able to handle this. If you can find a used HPI TF-40 and receiver the transmitter has a pushbutton on it for channel 3. Or a Futaba 3PL has a 2-position slide switch for the third channel. Or if you want to get crazy with features, a Turnigy 9X has plenty of knobs and switches on it for all sorts of lighting, winch, and gearbox control...

Cheers . That has made things a lot clearer . The standard GT3C looks like a contender .

The 3 racing winch can work two ways.

1/ with a 3 way switched channel on a TX

2/ With a push button on the winch circuit board.

You can do it with a 2 way switch on a tx, but the switch needs reversing everytime you use it. I blew a winch up doing this.

Traxxas TQ3 and they also make a 3ch 2.4g if the 27AM isn't your style.. can be had on Ebay pretty cheap

They have a toggle switch located where your thumb rests on the TX

Also make sure it is in fact a TQ3 or the TQ3-2.4g other wise it's a 2ch TX with a 4-5ch RX

3PL has a two position switch.

My bad, the manual states fully proportional and after leafing through it online I was lead to believe 3 position - oops.

Futaba 3PL , I believe the third channel is a 3 position switch.

If you can find one, the Spektrum DX3E is a great radio but now out of production.

found the Spekturm DX3E 3 CH 2.4Ghz DSM outfit brand new and in stock for £70 including a S200 servo . Looks like probem solved . Nice unit and exactly what i need to channel 3 ie 3 way switching .

Cheers Arron
