I have started an auction on ebay, had 99p start price with buy it now,

now that someone has bid 99p, my buy it now has vanished?

I was going to add a reserve to prevent it being sold for 99p but now I can't see that option? I could before someone bid.

what do I do?

Of course I could be dishonest, start a new account and make a false bid as I have heard this goes on but I didn't want to be dishonest.

You can cancel the listing and start again.

Once somebody places the bid you cannot change the reserve or the starting bid. the only way you can keep the buy it now option the same time as the auction is for the auction to have a reserve on it

Thanks Stu, will I get charged for cancelling the auction?

So there was no point in paying to have a buy it now, I should have just had a reserve, oh well. try again.

Thanks.

Edit2add, how do I end the auction? ok, listing ended, I will start again, this is giving me a right headache. :(

OK, I think thats sorted now, removed buy it now and included a reserve instead, thanks for the help F2Stu.

£14 in fees to pay, I should have just cheated and avoided the fees, no wonder people get put off selling stuff on epay.

I suppose it's no different to any other auction really, but it does seem very expensive.

It's certainly no longer a cheap place to sell, although that does discourage all the 99p rubbish being listed I suppose !

Where else do you get such a huge audience though, imagine how long it would take to sell things if we were back to postcards in shop windows and the local paper once a week :(

Some times with a 0.99p it could lead to a bidding war and you could end up more than your reserve. Ebay is still your best beat. You get world wide buyers and your local ad maybe cheaper but buyers will only be local. No free lunch in this world....Just think of the deals you have off ebay or you were abled to sourced.

I never take my money out of my PayPal I know I'll only end up buying more eBay stuff anyways lol. I agree tho it can take a shine off selling stuff when fees are so much. I always wait for free listing days and put the first bid as the minimum I would accept then if it sells great if not no loss.

Paypal took money out as soon as it was paid in, I only transferred what was left into my bank account to pay for postage.

I suppose I should read all the rules, but I have only sold a few items in all my time on ebay.
