Just seen this is an old magazine[:0]

For the guys in the UK, I could imagine this being done on Blue Peter, a few years back.[:I]

"Forget paying £60 for a NIB Blackfoot Body Set, just take an empty cola bottle and some sticky back plastic."[;)]

"This is one we made earlier."

Jimbo: that is way cool looking. Thanks for the picture.

Shodog: Neat-o idea. Wienermobile!! It should not be too hard to make a plaster form then glass it for the wienermobile!

It almost looks like the inspiration for the Avante body. Maybe Tamiya designers were drinking to many soft drinks

There was an article actually published in Model Cars magazine in the mid 80s as well about making bodies from coke bottles. Certainly cheap replacements for runners.

Yeah, i remember that one Terry. Also you've just jogged my memory about a cardboard body article (in Model Cars also i think) for the Rough Rider. And yes, i did actually make one at the time for mine [:I]

Ah yes Steve, the cardboard body article. That is how I still have an intact body on my Scorcher. How come it took an article in Model Cars magazine for inspiration. Suddenly everyone had an alternative to the Tamiya shells, using a cereal packet and some paint.

What's nice is that new body correctly ideanfies it as an RC car. That's useful.

I have an article in a 1980's RC Car Action where they built a plywood chassis and mounted Subaru Brat suspension/steering/gearbox to make a dirt track race chassis.

I hope Tamiya doesn't see this. Before you know it they will release special bottles to fit on a TL-01 'buggy' chassis! [xx(]

Still, that BF looks pretty futuristic. Very nice, but it looks rather odd... [:)]

I have the magazine articles, both the coke bottle and the cardboard bodies. I'll scan them in when I can if anyone is interested in a copy

Steve - can't remember which issue it was in, but the body was mounted on a Frog. That puts it around 85-86. When I find the article I'll tell you, having had a quick look I have not found it yet. I saw it when I was scanning in articles for the vintage review section, so I know I have it. Does anyone else have it to hand?

Hello all!

This is my first post here. Some (Jim Peacock [;)] for example), may know me as "El Zurru" from the RCMT.

Well as an absolute Coke drinker (2-3 liter per day), it may be very interesting for me running a Coke-MT.

Please list me for a copy too!

Martin

Hello Theo!

Looks like the world is getting small with Tamiya and Vintage Tamiya.

Lately I took a look at a 1 litre Coke bottle, but it seemed a little bit too small to make a bodyshell. I will look for some 1.5 and 2 litre bottles.

Regards

Martin
