Got sent this pic by a friend today, said it was a prototype tamiya. Looks very bling, expensive, and tamiya-esque.

Anyone know anything about it ?, is it a tamiya ?

It does look pretty old-school, with NiMH batts, brushed motor, FM rx, etc.

To me it looks like a converted touring car, with its vertical shock towers and steering rack. Quite neatly done though.

Ahhh, so old news and not something going to be made by tamiya. For anyone who hasn't looked at the link, it's a prototype made by a couple of racers in the UK in 2006, and isn't going to be made by tamiya.

However, this is very similar and not bad value:

It's also the exact same layout as the Ansmann Smacker - with a bit more bling though

If it was by Tamiya it would have a Li-fe battery and it would be a dt-02 chassis.

Well, if 3Racing can make a carbon chassis kit for a TT01, I don't see why the same cannot be done for the very closely-related DT02. I dont know how profitable it would be for the company, but it would make for quite a nifty vehicle I think, especially if they also brought out a slipper option for it.
