I keep on saying that Im going to do a photo shoot with my Re-Re Mounty (Bruiser) build. Well 70s weather, fresh cut crash, and some free time has lended me the opportunity. The body took lamost as long as the build. I had to sand the body first to rid it of mold lines. Than it was primed with four coats of fine gray. followed by three coates of silver and finally six coates of Mica Red, all Tamiya and each one wet sanded before the next coat. I think this is my finest build. Ill let the pictures do the talking.

Terrific paintjob, congratulations!

If you care about the look of the original 90's Mountaineer, you might want to take the smoke off the chrome parts (rollbar and wheels). Nail polish remover will take it off easily so they will shine all clean like the original.

Other thing I like a lot in the pictures is the looks of the black chassis. In all the promotional pictures of the 80's Bruiser it appeared painted black, even though no directions were shown in the original manual. That is one nice detail about the new Bruiser, and I see it looks beautiful in your Mountaineer.

Excellent truck and photos!

Thank you for the compliments, and tips. I didnt know that the real chrome was underneath. Maybe Ill give it a shot. Driver, Black Bumpers, Three piece Bruiser Wheels and the Slipper on the way. This thing is a blast to drive!

cant wait to so the pics after those 'upgrades' :)

btw. did tamiya forgot the sidebars in the black bumper upgrade kit on purpose?

oh and you need to tighten the screw on the right side window wiper ;)

I think they did it on purpose. I ordered a set with my Bruiser, but they are NIP as I don't want to buy new side guards and have to paint them black. May happen though if I get a second body.

That is a fantastic body GTodd. I'm curios to know what sandpaper you used and how wet sanding works.

Can you dye the side bars?

They're "dyable" if they0're made of the same plastic as the older ones.

Anyway, why not giving the Lunchbox's muffler/stepsides a try there? ;)

Very Nice!!

Photo Tip try shooting some with the truck further to one side of the frame ... ( not perfectly centered ) showing some land on one side it will make your photo look natural and make it POP!

Something like this one i did.
