Like the Detroit Diesel stickers (not sure who Allison is though).

Any plans to paint the window rubbers? :) I think it would compliment the grille nicely.

Don't worry, Neil! Even the smallest details will be properly worked on as I have time for taking care of that, I guarantee ya. ;)

Well, I don't know who was the Allison from *some* monster truck from the 80's, but doesn't hurt to think it must have been someone a bit like ... B)

Doh lol . You young bucks know nothing about motoring history . Way back in 1970 GM merged their Detroit Diesel engine division with the Indianapolis based Allison division . GM diesel engines from then on gained the nick name of ALLISON DIESELS .

You're certainly right.

But, still it never hurts to have a lil fun and bring some fine broad to the thread ;):D

lmao guess i'am just a old married guy and a bit of a piston headed nerd

This is true, but the "ALLISON" sticker is in reference to Allison Transmissions (separate co. formed by GM) is known for making bulletproof automatic transmissions for medium and heavy duty trucks and were used in all the 80's-90's Monster trucks.....and still used in the new ones today.

My special Orange-Crush Lunchbox is about to be finished and tested. YAY!

In the meantime I thought it was about time for me to show you some updates and specially to THANK the three TCers that made this possible and helped me throughout the process the last couple of months.

Thank you guys!!!

Now I have to paint the windshield rubbers, door handles, signal lights, and the small details, you know. Not sure I'll have the time to do so this weekend, but it's definitely something to look forward to. I'm so excited about this little monster truck!

You all have a GREAT weekend!!! :)

Looks great Erich. Is it going to be a shelf queen or runner? Nice touch with the TC'ers mentioned on the back panel.

Thanks Stephen. Not 100% a shelfer, and not 100% a runner. Something in between. I want to run it and hopefully not destroy it. And have some RC fun. After all, that's what these vehicles were made for.

Regarding the back panel, well, I remember my favorite Monster Truck from back in the day, the 1989 world champion Equalizer, had a list of thanks painted, too. Plus, Neil, Chris, and David have always helped me, no matter what. And if not for them, I would not have this truck in my collection, and so they deserve to be recognized. And I'm sure many TCers will agree that these guys are excellent people.

Good to hear. That shell looks too nice to wear road rash. Drive it nice and slow around corners, as you know these wheelie like crazy and spend alot of time on the roof. Gotta love them.

I've only known the Midnight Pumpkin, which was my very first Tamiya back in the day. I sure remember how the chassis works, but have heard these have some different feel when running 'em. ;)

I think that Orange color came out great Erich, and the chrome pogo sticks "blacked out" makes that body stand out even more.

And.....thanks for the honorable mention!!

Thanks for the mention Erich, you really didn't have to do that, but I like the thought and it adds a nice touch to that beauty. Now I think I will need to fashion some "training wheels" to bolt onto that so you don't destroy such a great looking truck. I also can't tell if I painted my window rubbers, so I will have to some day pull my LB projects off the top shelf and check on that detail. Keep them coming Erich, you never fail to show some great work.

Spent last night working the LB body and now it is finally finished. Some pictures below. I hooked up the Futaba radio that came with the fleamarket Frog and it works (and looks) great. I'm going to run it on dirt next weekend, as I first have to make some aluminum bracket to cover the loss of one of the rear axle springs. So it will run fixed, just like the Midnight Pumpkin that was my very first Tamiya RC vehicle...

You all have a great Sunday!! :)

Looking great Erich, I was wondering if you were going to attack the shut lines with some Sharpie marker though??? I also had a thought, what would it look like if the indented circles in the wheels were "blacked out" with a marker, it might get some depth going on those and the dirt from running would make this look so scale then. Enjoy running it, hope it all works out for you and nothing else goes breaking.

Don't think your $4 hardware shop paint was expensive, that is about what we pay here, and if we go to our hobby shop Tamiya paints START at $7 and are getting harder for me to find. I wonder, can you receive PAINT PENS???? I think Testors still makes some colors, but it would take ages and a bunch of them to paint something this big. :P

I finally had a minute last Sunday to work the alu bits to fix the rear axle of my Lunch Box. I remember using rubber tubbing to have this effect back in the day, now I've come up with this. I yet have to test it on dirt as a Lunchbox... I'm really enjoying the build. :D

Thats a cool mod! So the alloy will have some form of spring to it or is it to fix it solid like a grasshopper?

I was seriously considering whether modified nappy safety pins would prove a more robust spring replacement for the factory breakable ones.

Yes, it will work exactly like the Grasshopper. Back in the day I remember hating the effect of those springs. As a matter of fact I broke one of them now trying to push it to make it stronger. Since I could not find a replacement and wanted to run the car as a LB on dirt soon I just went straight ahead with the mod. Sooner or later I was going to do something like this. So it will run just like the truck that was my first love ;):D

Very nice Lunchbox! Too bad for that Futaba ESC, I have an FP-MC108 that has the exact same metal case and have not had any problems with it (standard silver can, what motor we're you using?)

Open it up and check what kind of damage it has, if you're Lucky it could be be a wire that fried off and can possibly be resoldered

Thanks Martin. No fancy motor, just the standard silvercan. I'll have a look at the ESC next Friday. I loved it though. It was given to me, and it happened to be working so I gave it a go. It ran smooth and, best of all, SILENT, not like the new ones.
