So I have this Dynatech which I apparently paid the princely sum of 15 bucks for about a decade ago.. How does it stack up against the current brushed Tamiya lineup? Does it deserve a place amongst one of the re-release lineup? What exactly does this belong in.. I see more about the 02H that this one.

You got a unbelievable bargain there if it's new.

They go for the high $90 to 100 if not more.

Not really a good performer as they lack torque. I think around a 19T single. It was standard equipment in the Terror Conqueror but that was it I think. The 02H was a far better motor.

Nice score though.

Go to www.zaonce.com for a complete list of all Tamiya motor. Yeah your Dynatech is kind of middle of the pack and the current brushed stuff has better spec. For that I'll give you an even $15.00 and you have to pay for postage to me. I think has a very unique head and will go nice with any vintage model that shows the motor.

A Tamiya Super Stock TZ or RZ will kill that thing, and they are only 23T motors. Plus the Super Stocks are easily serviced with modern off the shelf parts. The Dynatech belongs on the shelf (or ebay).

The coolest thing about it is that it's the very first of the Tamiya "Hop-Up option" line. # 53001

I picked it up from a LHS that was closing up shop years ago, and have been sitting on it since. Brand new... only ran a tiny bit of voltage into it once after rediscovering it in my basement after a move. Always wondered how these stacked up to the Technigold, which I'm more familiar with, and crammed into every model I could. I seem to recall massive 5 minute or so runtimes with those. Meanwhile, my re-re Hotshot with an RZ motor and 3600mah NiMh will run rings around any of those, and for many times as long.

Great link on all the motors! So to quote Dr. Jones.. "IT BELONGS IN A MUSEM!" :)

I'm no expert on motors, but the 01R is only one I've ever seen where the brush springs have two positions - not quite sure how that works?

Anyway - don't loose the springs - I lost one running in some grass and they seem to be unique. You could probably sell both your springs individually for more than you paid for the motor...

Yea, definitely sounds like this one is destined for the shelf then. If a proper re-re comes up that it "belongs" in, might install it.. but otherwise, eh.. might put it up on trade here.
