I had to make and replace both window pillars as 30 years of paint and the brake fluid had rendered them brittle and they broke off. I made the new parts out of perspex I had kicking around.. Finding a method that worked for glueing them was a nightmare and to be honest I cannot really remember now how! I think it involved recessing the body, paring down half of the width of the post and then using a combo of poly cement, Cyno and two part putty.

Starting to pick out the detail on the front

IMG_3072.jpg

and the rear

IMG_3070.jpg

unfortunately I got over OCD on the rear and made a mess of the letters, the second time the paint finish is far inferior, but it's going to have to stay for now.

and the windscreen edging

I then paint a clearcoat over it

Applied the decals after using low tack tape over the front of them to keep them together while I applied them.

IMG_3097.jpg

unfortunately I rubbed some of the paint of the rear arch and after putting some laquer on it, I then got impatient and pulled the tape off while the paint was soft.

As you will be able to see in the later photos, I added some decals to "hide" the fact.

I also added a third decal on the top of the arch between the other two to hide the rubbed of basecoat

I detailed the driver, this is the first time I have done this, I have really shaky hands due to meds etc and it was not easy! I have however progressed this a bit further to add detail to the cockpit (currently in progress)

I made a roof lining, and also a rear view cockpit mirrror to more closely resemble that on the box. I made and fitted some windshield wipers and it wasnt until after fixing them I realised that they were the wrong way round.. Not going to drill any more holes so that will have to do!

I am currently working on filling the cockpit with a little more detail around the driver. I have also done quite a bit of work around the chassis which i will post later.

The shell repair is astonishing, an amazing job well done.

Paint and detailing a proper job too!

I'm enjoying the story so far, keep the updates coming.

Dude that's seriously good work, you're way too hard on yourself!

Thank you, but I always get annoyed with myself when I know that I could and should have done better :)

Great job!

What product have you used to fix/fill the roof hole? Is a tamiya one?

Bye

WWD

:)

I used plastic sprue left over from an Airfix model of a plane I had put together with my son, he is severely Autistic now aged 20 and likes simple models. :)

I then used a fine pointed soldering iron to blend the two plastics together, applying poly cement straight after to strengthen the bond. If I had done this again I would have done it much more simply using the plastic sheets available from the hobby shops. When it had gone off, I used a heatgun to make sure that the roof was as straight as I could get it. Then I used plastic bumper filler available from Halfords to get a better shape while remaining fairly flexible. To get the finer holes filled I used the Humbrol model filler, followed by repeated priming and sanding back with 1000-2500 grit paper.

You are huge, hats off!

That looks superb mate. You should be proud.

Thank you, I can't help being a little smug when looking at it as compared to it at the start, but it stil could have been better.

Thank you for your kind comments, The detailing of this kind is a first for me and I am making it up as I go along hoping it doesn.t appear to be too awful!

Your work is nothing short of amazing. Thank you for sharing with us your excellent work!

I wouldn't say that, but it is nice that it must at least be not too bad, lol :D

So, this is what I have decided to do with driver, I did start off with making a box, but came to the conclusion I was trying to make life too hard for myself, so i took it apart and did this instead.

The safety cage is a bit low and obscures the drivers vision a bit, but I liked it.

That looks excellent . What material is that - Felt ? Looks ideal for the carpets in my Land rover build :D

How similiar to the Ford decal is the blackfoot in size? I am trying to recreate the decal sheet so I can bling the stand up for the chassis, but I am having probs cleaning up the ford decal copy I have.
