Figured is a matter of time before someone would work out the blue print for a 3d printer for making a real gun. The kicker is this likely NRA backed wack job is offering the process for free through the web. I guess Chris Rock is right if bullet cost $1000.00 a around, gun control will no lt be an issue. Seems like freedom and rights are at the expense of someone elses life.

Seems like freedom and rights are at the expense

I never got the connection with this and gun ownership. As I don't own a gun, am I not free and do I not have rights?

Probably not a good idea to start down this road, as this is a pleasantly apolitical forum.

This very issue was in an episode of CSI I watched last night!! They said the gun could only fire once as the heat and pressures would break it during the firing process. I guess from reading that article that things have moved on since then!

I think tamiya 1/10 is trying to make the point that the guy who posted the plans on the internet has exercised his freedom and right of speech at what will probably be the expense of someone elses life.

No, you're not free. Living in the UK the taxman has you by the proverbials. ;)

Owning or not owning a gun doesn't come into it. .....

here's the way it works over here in the US of A: some people have brains ( A ), and some people have guns ( B ). the intersection of these two groups is a tiny minority of both ( C ).

taking guns away from the group that is part of ( B ) but not part of ( C ) is ... tricky.

As a former soldier its begond me why any sain law abiding civilian would want to own a gun . The NRA are a bunch of redneck morrons IMO . The idiot who has designed this and put the code in the public domain might as well just hand out free wepons to criminals . No serial number , no background check . Have these gun nuts learned nothing from recent events or are they just too stupid to care ?

Actually, probably not appropriate for all ages...

It was a link to an amusing related article on the daily mash, if you want to know. I'm sure you'll know it if you see it...

I don' own or have a gun or guns...only those airsoft type....on one hand i can understand the views normal law abiding citizens gun owmers and what having access to guns can do. If there is a system where gun owners have to renew the gun permit on a regular basessimilar to drivers license may help the issue. One can be normal when buying the gun and get the permit but who know 1 yr oe 2 later will the individual still have the same sane of mind. I am more for better gun laws as gun is not a must and cannot even compare toa car where it has been compare to as a deadly weapon..what nonsense.

At today's dollar, you are on the money....i recalled CR mentioned a $1000.00 a round where the gangbanger would have to line thier victims up before they can fire the gun. If bullet did cost that much going to the range would require a 2nd mortgage or selling you house. I guess this gun issue for the American people will not be solve anytime soon.

Expensive ammo would also silence the people that throw the constitution in your face to justify owning weapons. Yes it says you have the right to bear arms... dosent say anything about ammo for them though does it Jim-bob!

One answer would be to ban civilians owning anything other than black power, muzzle loading, musket rifles and pistols. That's what was available when the constitution was written so that's all you can get. It'd take a real special kind of nut job to go on a killing spree with a gun that takes upwards of 30 seconds to reload between each shot.

I've always thought there should be a psychiatric exam and IQ test for anyone applying for a firearms license.

I don't think it's just stupidity, it's selfishness. These people just want their 'rights' regardless of how that affects others. How about everybody else's right not to get shot by some drunk/stoned/dumb/crazy individual with a gun?

There was a news report a few days ago about a 5 year old boy who shot and killed his 2 year old sister. Defies belief...

But I think that the authorities will probably shut this guy down. If not, then a few of these guns will get made and abused and blow up in people's faces, and this idiot will get sued to oblivion.

The guys in question are hardcore libertarian nutjob types. This is the reason that they have named their pistol after the one that the allies airdopped over occupied France in WW2. They want free guns for any/everyone because GOVERNMENT BAD, essentially.

Welcome to America... don't tread on mah freedumbz :(

/has guns, like target shooting

//scared of other Americans with guns :(

Surely most countries have laws that govern the manufacturing of firearms? You dont need a 3D printer to cobble together a bit of pipe, a firing pin and a latch... any doofus could knock that up.

So anyone daft enough to print out one of these guns would find themselves in a world of **** if the authorities track them down yes?
