saw that on tamiya blog, my guess is a land rover freelander type body but not exactly the same to save on the massive license fee that land rover probably asked for to reproduce it :)

oh right, those are the newer model LR that look like they got stuck under a bridge.

 , yeah ,thats the ones , i would have thought the defender would be a far better seller but it may still be a nice kit , looking forward to seeing it

I quite like the idea of another shell for the CC01, although I do hope it is a reasonably realistic depiction of a fullsize vehicle. Fantasy shells are fine for buggies, but I think the CC01 works best as a scaler.

I agree. I'd like to see a series 1 LR bodyshell from Tamiya, unlikely I know but certainly different and stand out from the crowd, especially if painted desert pink

I quite like the look of this . Its almost Ford like and IMO it wouldn't take much to make it appear very scale . The Box art is not working for me though . Its too much of a mash up of ford / Toyota styling and the wheels don't suit it . Is it a soft roader or a off roader ? No way you would go off road with those street tyres and bling rims . As a surfer's ride it kinda works I guess .

That's disappointing that its nothing to do with Land Rover... but if you think of it as and older style Hilux it works pretty well. Looks a lot like the one the Top Gear boys tried to destroy. As bromvw said tho, shame about those tyres. Are they the same awful plastic ones they put on all the CC01 & Hummer kits? These look a little lower profile to me. Offer no grip what-so-ever!

I like it!

Not so sure about the chrome bull-bar. It makes sense I guess, but the stock plastic bumper kind of clashes with it. I see Radshape RC now do a decent metal bumper for the CC01, could look very good on this model...

It's kind of ended up like a 4WD Brat equivalent. Nice little stock truck for driving on stock truck terrain.

It does have a Nissan Patrol kind of feel. I'm thinking.... make it into a "Technical." Paint it tan, put a .50 in the bed, make the body look half rotten and shot full of holes.. B)

Sorta what I was thinking of doing with my Bruiser or Hilux highlift.. :P

Tamiya seems to be doing my wallet a great favours by recently producing less enticing versions of chassis I already have. Wasn't really jonesing for a generic lexan pick-up to go on the shelf next to the Pajero or the MU.
