Got this off our local Craigslist site for $50. Apparently nobody in town knew what it was except for me and the one other vintage RC collector in town, and he didn't want it...

All original, and I don't think it has ever been run. There are NO scratches on the bottom at all.

The front steering bellcrank post is broken; it looks like it might have been broken during assembly. Might be the reason it was never run. It's staying on the shelf for now, exactly as it is, but at some point I may have to fix the bellcrank and put some servos in it and take it for a spin. I've always been curious how these 4WD/4WS buggies run...

Very nice score you got.

I have always loved the Exceed & it's a 4WS as well I think.

I'm still trying to find the parts to rebuild my Super Sprint & have a Brat chassis on the way. Looks like I have lost the bumper that I needed & a new Le Mans 240HS in the post after winning of the bay. The Le Mans motor I didn't mind but the rare Brat bumper is in the same parcel. 5 weeks from China & still no show.

Parts are really hard to find for these. <_<

Interesting buggy. Now which one was released first, this one or Tamiya's Hot Shot?

You know, I don't know. They both were on the shelf at my local hobby shop in 1985 when I got into the hobby, but I don't know which came first.

I will tell you one thing: it's a lot more complex than a Hotshot, with 4 wheel steering and a center limited-slip diff.

I thought this Nichimo is interesting. It can be more complex than the Tamiya buggy, yeah, but what is intriguing is how similar it looks to the Hot Shot. AND, the Hot Shot was so different to anything Tamiya did before.
