...when you're out giving your Monster Beetle some exercise, and you get a little playful and take a couple jumps, and after the third one, the gearbox starts making a terrible clicking noise...

It's not the diff; I did the screw mod ages ago and it feels fine. Turning both rear wheels at the same time, however, sounds and feels awful. I think I broke a tooth on either the spur or the counter gear. I don't have the strength to tear it apart right now to find out...

Anybody else have one of those moments, when you know you just did something stupid?

I had one a few days ago - driving my Stadium Thunder round at my nephew's house - we got out a small skateboard ramp - approximately the same width as the car. Something was nagging me that this wasn't a particularly good idea, but he's only 6 and I was quite happy to show off. A couple of fast jumps resulted in some big rolls, but nothing too bad. I then went for a full speed attempt and hit the jump at an angle - then watched the car cartwheel about 30 times (seriously). I had time to swear (under my breath) a few times before it came to a standstill.

It looked terminal, but the only real damage was a broken steering servo horn. I love the BB/ST/SB chassis - it just keeps going and asking for more...

I found that at full compression, the shock arm on the rhs arm smacks the motor. I had the this flex the gearbox enough for the pinion to dig a chunk from the spur on mine once.

Needless to say there is a slight scallop on the motor side arm on my Blackfoot now.

Taking my newly acquired and cleaned Blitzer out for its 1st run and the car going crazy and then jamming itself under my neighbours 1:1 car.

Not a happy bunny, I was really pleased with myself up to that point, now its got broken windows, scuffs and cracked A post.

Definitely not my happiest Tamiya moment to date!

The time when I took my newly-completed scratch built MAN KAT for its maiden run. It performed well and of course I got over confident and barrel-rolled the beast 20 or 30ft down a hill. Thankfully the damage was minimal but it was a real heart-in-mouth moment...

When I was jumping my Stadium Thunder and it landed on its rear wheel, snapping the driveshaft. Happened twice!

tb02, twice I had a ball connector from upper suspension link unscrewing itself due to vibrations (parking lot drifting). Thought I had a misteriously broken link. What a relief when I took down the body. Second time was just an "oh really, not again" moment.

Can we include non-tamiya stories?

Hmm. That could be it. It has aftermarket shocks on it, and I don't know if they're limited quite right. I doubt it's the hexes; wrong noise. I know what those sound like and this isn't it. Whatever it is, it will have to wait. Getting out of town for July 4th.

Not my week for technology, though: my phone is acting up, I crashed my work computer twice trying to work with a huge graphics file, and this morning I left the lights on in my car and killed the battery...

watching my mate race my Cobra other weekend and after one large jump the whole rear of car fell off screws pulled out :(

That would probably be hilarious if it wasn't your car lol.

Bought the Clod Buster when it first came out. Had no idea the chassis was as brittle as it was. Jumped it off a 4 foot wall. Interesting to watch as the front and rear suspension went in 2 different directions...

Found out the next day I had to order a brace that didn't come with the kit...

When you load up your car with your RC cars, drive half way across Bangkok to the track and then discover youve left the transmitter in the living room.

Awful indeed! Far worse than no radio (i.e.: music) in the actual car...

I did something similar to Grumpy pants' experience with my very first car on its very first run, wedging it under a maintenance barrier and scraping the fresh decals off the nose! I learned to watch my speed in turns after that.

Classics-wise, I somehow managed a barrel roll with my Striker, landing on all four wheels... and then rolled it over right after! The antenna tube saved it from too much damage, fortunately, but it was obviously not enough for my heart to take just one incident at a time!

Seriously though, 4 feet?! Brace or no brace, I'd expect that truck to break.

Went to go drive my lovely restored Clod buster outside nice and sedately one day. Was holding it by the front gearbox and went to walk out the front door in which we have tiles and previously Mrs Berman had noticed a black mark on said tiles and sprayed it with Spray n Wipe and left the product there to soak.

I managed to stand on the product, feet went up in the air, fell on my back and in the process threw the Clod Buster 7 feet into the air and it came crashing down on its bed.

I told the missus she can reimburse me for new decals, body carcass and paint lol,

which never eventuated, muggins here bought them himself <_<

Also... turn off reverse in a f1, incase you accidently try to brake twice

This is bad! Very bad! I can't believe it. I could get a divorce for such a thing.

Watching my son pick up my controller and go full power on my sport tuned Falcon towards a BMX jump, leap it about ten feet in the air and seconds after it disappeared from sight, a huge smack sound.

Walked over and found it in three pieces, chassis snapped in the middle and the top and bottom front end halves shattered.

He was really upset so I couldn't tell him off.

I've had quite a few stupid moments. My latest being parking my high lift on a rock and accidentally clipping the throttle. All I saw was the truck zoom off the edge down a 4th drop upside down. On it's first run as well, nearly had a trouser accident. Ran round to find it upside in a bush perfectly fine. Other stupid moments include snapping my Mad bull in half, driving it up a low fence and snapping the roof and driver clean off and demolishing a brand new impress body into a caravan.
