A bit of local news in my area! Pretty sad considering the owner only started up his business a few months ago!

POLICE are seeking the publics help to find thieves who netted remote-control cars and helicopters in a ram raid in O'Connor this morning.

The ram raid occurred about 5am when a cream-coloured Holden Commodore station wagon smashed through the front of a hobby shop on South Street.

The station wagon had Queensland registration plates and was stolen from Coode Street in South Perth earlier in the night.

Two or three offenders then entered the store and stole seven expensive remote-control cars and several remote control helicopters.

Police believe the gang specifically targeted these items because they did not approach the cash register.

They were all wearing blue hooded jackets and blue beanie-style hats.

They left the area in a red Nissan 300ZX, which was stolen from the Murdoch train station car park between 9am and 5:30pm yesterday.

Numerous cars were seen driving along South Street at the time of the ram raid.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or saw either of the vehicles during the evening.

Another Paper report. Basically same text.

Police are calling for the public's help to find the people responsible for a ram raid in Perth this morning.

The offenders used a stolen cream-coloured Holden Commodore station wagon with Queensland registration plates to ram their way through the front of the Hobby Shop on South Street in O'Connor at 5am.

The offenders - who had stolen the Holden Commodore from Coode Street in South Perth yesterday evening - abandoned the car at the scene.

"Two or three offenders entered the [Hobby Shop] store and stole seven expensive remote-control cars (approximately $1000 each) and a number of remote-controlled helicopters," police said.

"It is possible the offenders targeted these items, as it appears the offenders went straight to these items and did not go near the till."

The offenders were wearing blue hooded jackets and blue beanie-type hats.

"They left the area in a red Nissan 300ZX, which was stolen from the Murdoch train station carpark between 9am and 5.30pm on Wednesday," police said.

"Numerous cars were driving along South Street at the time of the ram raid.

"Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or saw either of the vehicles during the evening."

South Metropolitan District Crime Team detectives would like to hear from anyone with information about the crimes.

2 or 3 offenders plus the stolen RCs in a 300ZX. How do they all fit in the ZX?

For the amount of work these individuals went through just for some RC, they should hit ATM machine and get more in return.

Lot of works, little in return.

What hobby shop was it ?. Sik hobbies ?. ,

WoW , what is the world coming too ....

Not too sure of the shop Matman.

Doing a quick google search it could be Marty's Toys & RC Hobbies or Siks. Never heard of the first name until now.

On the TV news the owner said he had rare rc vehicles at the front of the shop which took the brunt from the car smashing through. Be curious to know what rare ones they were!

I bet it was young kids of sort . As they only got what they wanted & didn't do a good job of it .

You would think they would have got more stuff etc ...

I would like have know what was in the front as well , You see this is why i think it's punk as kids .

watched the smash & grab on the cctv link and surprise the amount these individuals will do for some RC s. Stole 2 cars and Smash into a store front to get the new stuff and nothing rare per owner.

i can accept people breaking in for food/ survival but for RC! Must be very very expensive stuff. The damage to properties could be just as much as the stolen property.

The good part is likely covered by insurance less any deductibles.

The linked CCTV footage looks to be Traxxas items taken maybe, i guess Traxxas XO's and Emax 4x4 Brushless, ERevos??? These are about AUD$1000 rrp likely in hobby shops around here. .Quite a few stores around our city stock Traxxas and are popular with RC'ers in this neck of the woods.

I saw some photos on a FB rc group last night. Thinks the shop was Tech Toys or something like that, one that I didn't know about and didn't visit when I was over there.

I am sticking with the shopping list theory. There were Traxxas Spartans just sitting right there near the front, still on the shelf, and that Hanger 9 Beast bipe hanging over where they drove through is worth more as an ARF kit than any rtr Traxxas.

looking at the photos are just insults to injuries. Stealing is bad enough but should have some class in going about doing it. pick or cut the locks but ram the store front in is just too much. It reminded me a while back when thugs no only stole from a family home but deliberly left the tap on to flood the home.
