super gripper 420 Posted July 15, 2013 No chance of lowering the turns in brushless modified class then?, I also have a WR-02 vw wheelie, would that be allowed in a lunchbox race? No definitely not, The rules are final. It took a lot of time and effort to set the rules to be fair for everyone. You could use the WR-02 in the lunchbox race yes. That one will be just for fun. No lap counting in that one.
wolfdogstinkus 2027 Posted July 15, 2013 Ok, fair enough, had to ask, I do have a good quality 19T brushed motor and there is less chance of breakages I suppose. Prizes for the worst condition car??, (mine would be a contender) I think Johnny retro had trophys for this at Snetterton one year. .

RallyeBaz 14 Posted July 15, 2013 That's a shame as would love to see a Vintage SRB race with Scorchers/Rangers rubbing paint or a TA-02 race with the different shells.
super gripper 420 Posted July 15, 2013 That's a shame as would love to see a Vintage SRB race with Scorchers/Rangers rubbing paint or a TA-02 race with the different shells. The problem is Tamiya make so many different cars, to have a race for every type of car is impossible. Plus that's not what is trying to be done with this event. Most people have a DT02 in some shape or form If they do not they can always follow Tamiya monkey's example and buy one ! How else are we going to follow the rest of the worlds DT02 events - why should we be left out !! So here it is, get one, get involved and enjoy yourself with friendly fun racing. With the rules set as they are it doesn't matter how big your pockets are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two classes, two choices OR run in both
tamiya monkey 261 Posted July 15, 2013 Resistance is futile lol.

qatmix 949 Posted July 15, 2013 This is really good news. Dt02 racing would be a great spec class here in the UK. A HB is cheaper than a GT12 and it includes an esc. (Fusion hobbies only £72 with Tamiyaclub discount) Keep it simple and don't open it up to other chassis as it would just be a mess and destroy the actual focus of a spec racing event. I'm going to try to make it with my lad if possible.
super gripper 420 Posted July 16, 2013 > gatmix Thank you for seeing the event for what it is A HB cheaper than a GT12, so it is, never thought of it like that. It will be great to see you there.
RallyeBaz 14 Posted July 16, 2013 I have nearly every chassis apart from those lol. I've got no problem buying one of those models. I am a BRCA member as race several classes at our indoor club. How much will it be for someone to be a BRCA member on the day or do they have to pay the full years subscription, as my 2 younger brothers may be up for it as well. I'll have to keep dreaming of seeing Porsche Taisan's/RS Escort Cosworth's being driven in anger

The club is so everyone is insured
RallyeBaz 14 Posted July 16, 2013 > Tamiya monkey. No BRCA membership is required. Using a BRCA club means everyone is insured > mr crispy the kamtec rough rider body shell is not from any of the DT02 kits so technically not allowed Lovely Jubberly - Just threw me with this quote lol
SRB Bloke 237 Posted July 16, 2013 Well, if I'm coming it looks like I need to buy an HB, blue or red thats the question..
XV Pilot 1937 Posted July 16, 2013 Excellent! I have two DT02s, and it appears that both would be race-legal. Now to see if I can rearrange my work rota so as to be free on the day...
qatmix 949 Posted July 16, 2013 I remember back in the day racing my ta01 Cosworth with a 13t brushed motor in a field of skylines and Porsches. It was awesome but they wouldn't very good on a buggy track I'll have to keep dreaming of seeing Porsche Taisan's/RS Escort Cosworth's being driven in anger
tamiya monkey 261 Posted July 16, 2013 This is the kind of event we all need, i missed the official tamiya club meet last year, so hoping for more like this one in the future.
super gripper 420 Posted July 16, 2013 This is the kind of event we all need, i missed the official tamiya club meet last year, so hoping for more like this one in the future. I have been meaning to get this event up and running for a while, I am hoping we get the numbers this time around so it can become a yearly event. The initial interest is good. I made sure there is camping the camp site is only a few miles from the track. http://www3.hants.gov.uk/basingstoke-canal/campsite.htm at £5 a pitch it is cheap as chips

kevinthegerbil2 15 Posted July 17, 2013 I be interested in doing the Standard DT02 class as I got the Sand Rover. Luchbox race be good as I and the misses got Pumpkins ;-). Not too hard to get from Poole either. Do we have to use handout Transponders? I got my own AMBRC transponder as I do club racing.

smitchos 78 Posted July 19, 2013 Hi All, I've been on the band-wagon of trying to help promote this event. I've had several (different) queries also, so here's some info / FAQ's that may help others. 1) The idea is along the same lines as the Tamiya Super Fighter Cup Series, but this is our more relaxed and simplified take on it. If many countries such as Germany and Japan do this, why shouldn't we? Google / YouTube this and take a look. 2) The first class is for 'standard' DT-02 2010 Holiday Buggy, 2011 Sand Rover and 2011 Street Rover’s only, with limited modifications so HOPEFULLY DOES NOT require you spend extra money. We envisage that if you own one of these cars, it probably looks like this already. This is the low cost budget / standard class. If you want to flex your wallet, or determined to use a heavily modified car, you're in the secondary 'open' DT-02 class (with the big boys!). The second class covers everything else DT-02, a very heavily modified HB/SR, Desert Gators, Sand Vipers etc etc., where the rules are more ‘open’ allowing many more modifications (if you like!) and more horse-power!! This cover ALL other DT-02 cars, whether standard / ‘modified’ or not. So if you have a standard Sand Viper etc, this class is for you. Your car cannot be modified so much that it is no longer recognisable as a DT-02 (see rules). If you have a Holiday Buggy or Sand Rover, and that you have made many changes over and above the HB/SR class rules, I suggest you dig out those old parts and put some back,so you're into the std HB/SR races. This is what I have done with my HB. 3) The rules say things such as 'motor cooling is permitted'. This does NOT mean that you have to have it, its your choice. I particualrly highlight this point as to the motors. Where the rules say any motor with '19 turns or more'. This does NOT mean that have to have a 19 turns motor, i.e. spend money. You can use anything as long as it has 19 turns or MORE, i.e. a Clash 23, Tamiya TechniPower, Tamiya Black Sprint etc. etc.etc. 4) Don't worry about the timing transponder mounting, SuperGripper has made some quick and easy fit brackets for your car. To be sorted out on the day. PS - ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING A HB (or anything else for that matter), CALL Joanne @ FUSION HOBBIES - SHE DONE ME A GREAT DEAL MY HB. Looking forward to a greta day out! Cheers
super gripper 420 Posted July 21, 2013 To simplify things somewhat, to run in the standard class all you need is a 2010 HB or a 2011 Sand Rover or a Street Rover >> add a 540 silver can and your good to go. >>>>>>>> oil shocks.......Optional...........and ballraces........optional........Sport Tuned.........optional. to run in the Open/modified class you can use any of the DT02 cars, >>>>>>>>>>add a hotter motor such as a Dirt Tuned, Super Stock etc OR a HPI 20 turn OR a 19 turn motor and your good to go. Please see the rules for permitted HOP UPS.
GregM 1111 Posted July 22, 2013 I still do not fully understand why the Super Fighter G isn't legal in the basic class. Is it just because of the more modern looking (yet non-lexan) bodyshell? It is cheaper than the Sand Rover at Modelsport, and even the Holiday Buggy in other places.
super gripper 420 Posted July 22, 2013 I still do not fully understand why the Super Fighter G isn't legal in the basic class. Is it just because of the more modern looking (yet non-lexan) bodyshell? It is cheaper than the Sand Rover at Modelsport, and even the Holiday Buggy in other places. Three reasons really, firstly the rules have been set up with the fact in mind that here in the UK most tamiyaclub members have HB's or SR's. 2, The Super Fighter and its GR cousin's will look out of place among the HB's and SR's etc 3, no one as of yet has asked if they can run one in the Standard class !
