A kit 540 would be best, with a 19 tooth pinion for best performance.

For anyone thinking of the Mod Class, check this out.

£99 Bargain price reduction at Modelsport.

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?product_id=370902

The Fighter Buggy SV is essentially a basic DT-02 chassis (plastic bushings, friction dampers, plastic driveshafts, plastic camber links) with a Sand Viper body on top? Or am I wrong?

If you click on the "similar products" tab you could be forgiven for thinking so (the body shell actually says "DT02" on it)...

Here's a kit 540: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-540-motor/rc-car-products/18376

Here's a suitable pinion: http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/3200-rw-racing-32dp-pinion-gear-17-tooth

Here's a slightly quicker motor that still qualifies: http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/53068-tamiya-sport-tuned-motor

Those links are just to show you the items. Always worth shopping around.

For anyone looking for DT02 kits..

Radshape have told me they will price match Modelsport and 'possibly' offer further discount to people visiting their shop (near Birmingham) to purchase and collect in person.

I've just seen a NIB Violet Racer on Amazon for £49.99 + £4.87 P&P!! The seller is called CG1 Supplies and as far as I can tell, it includes all, i.e. the ESC etc.

Cheap as chips!

think if i go for remotoring id buy a brushless version , i know it would mean a new esc too , but id also fit lipo or life batteries , with the aim of longer run times ! jon

That would mean an entry into the Modified class as the Standard class is Brushed:

  1. Any Tamiya kit supplied ‘silver can’ 540 motor.
  2. The Tamiya ‘Sport Tuned’ 540 motor.
  3. The Tamiya ‘Torque’ Tuned 540 motor.

Not at all - it was more directed at the site for not explicitly stating DT02 like it does for all the other cars...

RadshapeRC (the people that had the bottle to open the new store that everyone was raving about in another thread) has the Holiday Buggy for £79.

http://www.radshaperc.com/product/tamiya-holiday-buggy-red-2010-dt-02

The listing says it's free delivery on all kits, but the basket wants you to add £3.95 so that needs fixing. Never dealt with them, just thought I'd highlight this.

Hi Guys

I'm thinking of getting myself down to this event, but have never raced before and have a couple of questions.

Firstly, I am still using 27 mhz. When booking in online , do I have to state which crystals I own? or do I bring all that I have and they're designated on the day?

Also, I'm thinking of running in both the standard and the mod class.

Having never raced before I have no idea how many batteries I would need to bring? I have 5 3700nimh batteries. Would this be enough with a quick charger?

Thanks. Apologies if they're daft questions.

Radshape have sorted out the postage issue. Ta, J
