Thank you all for your kind words - it was a lot of fun coming up with new ideas, and practicing new techniques!

I've got a new project lined up, which this time is going to be all about style and shape (and drivability), rather then intricate details - however I'm going to be busy for a few weeks so may not get that started just yet...

In the meantime, I have also been messing around with another back-burner idea - revamping Willy's Rocker (crawler) and this is something I hope to get sorted in the next couple of weeks - just got to wait for a few parts to arrive, then the fun begins. Again!

Toot toot for now!

Goodness - doesn't time fly? Time for a few more updates to the Nailer I feel!

So as mentioned previously, the idea with this project was to build a sort of scaler (as I particularly love all those 1:10 scale crawler accessories you can get these days!), and fill up the load bed of Willy's Nailer with a load of old junk that would help keep him going on the trail...

I was particularly impressed with the detailing of the Proline range of crawler accessories, and felt the welder and tool tray set would be most appropriate for this old beater!

I'd already attached the black water jug, so simply moved (and glued) the tow rope, so that the welder and tool tray fitted perfectly in the space left!

The Hi-Lift jack is actually part of the Hobby Gear range (that included a water jug and propane bottle), as I felt it's proportions were more accurate than the Proline version. Of course a set of their scale bungee cords were also needed to hold things in place.

Having also bought a cooler and set of soda cans (for the STUMPkin), I added one to the nailer too - yep, even Willy throws his trash in the passenger footwell!

Unlike the STUMPkin (currently), I wanted this vehicle to be a runner with all the accessories in place - so attached the tool tray with velcro, so that the rear body clips (just under the tow-rope) could still be accessed for changing the battery etc. while the loose tools (cordless drill/wrench and mallet) were superglued in position in the tool tray.

Everything else has been either glued in or screwed in to stop it falling out during running... yep, I made sure it can even turn turtle with everything still held in place!

Hope you like the latest additions!

This looks outstanding...

I had no idea the willy shell would fit onto an 18th scale chassis. I actually was making my own 18th scale mini willy but was custom making the body out of a toy...

Unfortunately when I moved to Malta it got badly damaged. Now I know I can use a WW body I can start again :) ..thank you!!

Nice one Kaylon! - the Maverick ion was the other chassis I looked at before deciding on the Mini Recon - I'm sure it will work just as well!

Just a quick bump - I've started a new build thread about the Nailer, concentrating on re-engineering it using a Tamiya MF-01x chassis - if only they'd had such a short 4WD chassis back at the beginning of this thread!

More info. here
