Had my eye on those for a while, anybody had a chance to test the 12T, they do look interesting?

Please let us know how the XT20 workes out, how fast it goes in reverse and back to forward, looking for a little bit quicker reacting esc for Willy and Vanessa. (the Mtroniks sport is nice but a little lame on the revers thing)

Sorry to revive an oldish thread, but brushed dinosaur here would like to know if the XT20 or XT12 are worth buying. I'm ideally looking for something cheap, reliable, and with Lipo cut off.

Thanks

Can't comment on the newer XT items but I've got / had loads of mtroniks ESCs, some probably ten years old and they've not given me any issues.

Ok, thanks. I seem to be getting mixed opinions on these ESC's Not sure what the alternatives are. Maybe an Mtroniks, but I'm not sure which one's, if any have LiPo cutoff, and I think the heatsinks are on the bottom, which is odd.

They say that if you buy cheap, you buy twice, but for the money, I might go ahead and try one of those Xt20, if I can't find anything else comparable, and just hope for the best.

You can pay more for a tamiya ESC but some get frustrated by 50% power in reverse and no lipo cut off. You can buy cheaper with the Chinese 320A ones on eBay or the brushed items from hobbyking but neither are waterproof, and in the case of the latter, the lipo cut off is set too low.

I definately want Lipo cut off as it's the way things are going, or have been for a while now, and I'm only just getting my act together. I don't want so cheap/no name as to make a foolish purchase. I just want to find middle ground. It's old tech, I don't race, so don't want to spend silly money. I just want reliable and up to the job without hurting the wallet. If it works out I'll be able to get the same esc for my other cars. At the moment, each car has a different make/model of esc. I've forgotten how to set up most of them, and none are lipo compatible. I haven't even used one or two of them! I think I have a Tamiya lying around somewhere, and an old Nosram, not to mention CPR units. I need to find a model that works and stick it in anything I use from now on. It'll make things much easier.

I have a few xt20's now and they work perfectly, built for modelsport by mtroniks, (great warranty) waterproof, lipo cut-off built in and bec. and on top of that a nice compact size, you can't go wrong in my opinion.

i have had mixed results with mtroniks/modelsport escs. i bought 5 rv12 asaults about 18 months ago and i also have a tio storm 14 and a second hand ansmann sirius one. 2 of the 5 rv12s have been fine and have been used a lot with lipos with no issues at all but the other 3 were fitted to cars and only run once. last week 2 of these 3 went up in smoke for no apparent reason and one lost reverse. all the electrics that were connected to the fried ones have been connected to various other esc including the other rv12,tio storm and ansmann with no issues? faulty batch maybe but out of warranty now so no replacements or refunds.

the ones i have that work i really like apart from the ansmann as the reverse has a big delay and only low power.

I forgot to say I have an Etronix Probe WP ESC which has had a lot of packs put through it and it's a very good ESC indeed. Only downside is the lack of being waterproof but otherwise the spec is right up there.

So did I . WP stands for waterproof ! . As far as I know all Etronix ESC's are waterproof . Its their trademark selling point .

Thanks for the input guys. I've ordered n XT20 for now. I'll see how it goes. If it works well I might get more for other cars, otherwise I'll be on the look out for something else, like the Etronix.

Should have no probs with the xt20 fruit fly, bought one for my daughters Jun hornet and as my first outing with lipo I've been nothing but impressed although I'm not sure the gearbox will last long with all the I turns she does .... As she says to her mum "drive it like you stole it!" Have no idea where she got that from lol

Hi I have 1x XT12 and 1x XT20, both have been great so far, I have them set for double tap reverse but they seem to be set on instant reverse! Its no problem really and need to re-look at it ;-)

Its my esc of choice at the moment because its not big but its waterproof, great for superstock motors

Thx, what I ment is if you go into full revers, does it take a second to build up or is it instant.

I like to go into full reverse for a second and then go full forward, this way you get wheelies out of a lot of cars (bigfoot, Willy less grippy surface etc.)
