Hello There,
I've been wanting to do this project for about a year and a half. Finally got it started this week. I'm going for a rusty, barley running, worn out look. It will be a working RC car, but will have a compete interior (Bar under the hood where the electrics will be). I've still got to rust it and add dents and a few decals, oh and build the interior. So far I've been working on the body. I've semi stripped it with oven cleaner, which took some but not all of the paint away. The sunroof was leaking, so I taped it up. The Bug had had a bad front end crash, so I chopped off the bottom. I painted the lenses yellow for a retro 80s look. the headlight is meant to be hanging BTW! I've also started painting different panels to simulate replacements. I've also made some scale accessories. A box of TNT, Rubix cube, maps, manuals, rollmat, handy mans toolbox, with jump cables, mallet, duct tape and a hubcap. Then I worked with some bike tubes to make some Land Rover mudflaps and I put a seal between the nose and body, just like a real car :nice:.

Added some "Bling Bling", a Merc badge!

I made "Homemade" style oil cooler for the roof, added some dents to it, fitted the Land Rover mudflaps (The owner didn't want mud going into the engine!), and started on the floor pan. Sadly, I don't have the space or availability of a 3D Printed or CNC, so I'll be making it out of styrene. I also found an Matchbox Baja Bug, which I'll repaint into a Sand Scorcher and have it as a scale, scale RC! I also made one of those "Magic Tree" air freshioners for it. Enjoy! :nice:
The driver needs to stay away from the golf courses!

Looks good... I mean awful... er, I mean...

Thanks :D

I've done some more work today. I'm basically done on the floorpan. It's not 100% perfect, but it is as good as I could get it!

Painted the floor today and stuck down the battery. Looks like the owner of the bug, got a new floor, but sadly its orange. Oh well! I painted it silver first, and shall start weathering.

Wow, I packed this in a box and came across it recently in my loft! The SRB chassis got sold though. Looking back kinda makes me want to finish it. One day.......

Also, could I get this moved to the builds section in this funky new layout, please :D

One suggestion. Don't forget that battery trays love to rust out. To have the battery half falling through a rusty hole would be a great touch (my second beetle had such an issue, repaired with a piece of wood, which is another option).

Would be great to see more work done on this build mate, loving your work so far.

If you PM Twinset he'll should move it to the builds forum.
