Can anyone recommend some tyres and wheels that will fit a stock pajero metal top? that are better than the stock?

I quite like the wheels so better tryes would do for me.

Also what hopups would you recommend for a CC-01?

no tire expert, but i would go with a softer compound and more aggresive looking treads.

replace all plastic bushings with ball bearings . if $ is no issue go for the ceranmic.

order an exter locking differential for the front

use high torque servos

35T motors .55t could be too slow.

above is good enough for me.

use all water proofed electronic if you plan running in water which you likely will.

a good quality 1 inch or less paint brush to keep it clean after each outing.

but the sky is the limit by visiting so web shops.

i zip ( use black zip ties) tie the rear torqusion bars to the rear axle and no sag at all. cheap and effective.

My CC01 Pajero is running the following mods and hop-ups, and it performs brilliantly, able to keep pace with my mate's SCX10:

GPM ballraced steering (with rubber sealed bearings, for smoother action)

GPM front universals (as the dogbones can pop out)

GPM front lower wishbones (for extra suspension travel)

GPM knuckles (for extra steering throw)

GPM servo mounts (for less flex)

GPM shock mounts (for strength)

GPM alloy motor mount (for rigidity)

Junfac 4-link kit (for better, smoother travel)

Junfac under-chassis skid plate (for lower CoG and a smoother underside)

Junfac front skid plate (so the car can ride up and over obstacles more easily)

Junfac hardened steel propshaft (for strength)

RW Racing steel pinion (for longevity)

Ansmann 75mm shocks (for more travel and better ground clearance)

Fastrax Kong 90mm tyres (for more grip while preserving scale looks)

Futaba waterproof hi-torque servos (for steering and winch)

Spektrum waterproof RX

Mtroniks waterproof ESC

Etronix 60t rebuildable motor (for high torque and scale crawling speed)

Longer screws to secure the gearbox cover (as the stock ones can pull out with a high torque motor)

...and of course rubber-sealed bearings throughout.

You can't fit much bigger, nor wider offset wheels and tyres than stock under the Pajero without doing a body lift.

I would recommend for tyres: (Same tread but much softer and about a cm taller)

On these rims: (also available in black)

There might be a little guard rub, but there is nothing that I am aware of between your 87mm stock tyres and these. Also the 1.5" rim is better proportioned to the body, in my opinion :)

Your best bet with the wheel / tire options is to use 1.55 rather than 1.9 wheels. There are a range of RC4WD tires with an 85mm ish diametre and this is what you need. I tried some of the ones with 95mm but they looked wrong and needed a body lift.

Here is my Pajero. It has GPM 4-link suspension and 80mm shocks which really improve the articulation... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/trades_model.asp?cid=113140&id=396.

Wow thanks guys this will keep me busy for a while!

I am off to the model shop tomorrow to get some hop-ups as I saw someone post about a new RC place called Radshaperc turns out its about 5 mins from my house! YAY result!! lol

That could be bad for my wallet! lol

You lucky git! Take your Pajero with you, they have an indoor crawler area to play on. Be good to see what it can & can't do before you start modifying, then you'll know what mods work for your style of driving. It'd be even better if you can video it and post it here up :)

Wish I was that close to Radshape! They do a neat front skidplate for the CC01 that might be worth a look.

Lol yep I spotted that last night so am going there at the weekend or sooner if I can

I have got them to reserve me a skidplate :)

Now I must get selling some of my unused cars so I can afford new stuff!

I got my skidplate it looks ace but on first inspection it seems to stop the body from fitting. I will have a play tomorrow and post some pics if I can sort it. I spent loads in there! Like a kid in a sweet shop!

Slight issue with the Skidplate I got yestersay...

Once you fit the skidplate it gives you no room for the metaltop body to mount on DOH!

These pics should explain..

I think I am going to try what XV Pilot said in my how to raise a Pajero Body post as I think the body raise maybe the only solution for this.

If anyone has any other ideas to make it fit let me know because it does look ace on the chassis!

Ah, I see what you mean. Raising the body should do the trick, or trimming the skidplate. My apologies - I thought it would be a direct fit like the Junfac one that I use on mine.

Those slip plates look nice but it'll just make you more likely to ground on rough terrain. Best thing is to cut off the "brick" at the front and either adapt that plate or make your own from aluminium. I cut mine down at an angle so it left the body mount holes at the top and the lower screw hole at the bottom (the pic below shows a Landcruiser bumper fitted which attaches just like your body mount).

A bit of shaped alum is screwed to the ledge at the bottom and fits up behind the bumper. I filled in any gaps left at the sides and sprayed it all black. Combine that with 96mm or these 108mm Ansmann wheels from Modelsport and it just doesn't ground anymore!

Edit: I should add the 108mm tyres are probably a bit too large for the Pajero bodyshell :)

You don't need to apologise I also thought it would be a direct fit. It kind of is it just does not taking into account the body. :D

I will have a play and see what works, will post pics when I have finished.

PS: Mr Crispy that looks ace! My metal work skills are poor, I would probably end up cutting off and finger or my hand etc ;)

Its a great idea though and I will look at that in the future when I have done a few more upgrades.

Trimming the brick is probably the best way forward for off-road performance, but I wouldn't say the skid plates make matters worse. Compared to a stock tub where the brick bashes straight into obstacles,, getting hung up on them, an angled skid plate helps the car to ride up and over the obstacle instead. That has been my experience anyway.

Put up a wanted post in the classified section or your next best bet is to keep checking eBay. Or check the online manual and order all the bits but that won't be cheap. It maybe possible to replace it with another brand of axle?

looks like this could turn into a very long rebiuld , unless somebody knows of other axles that will fit , but dont cost a fortune ? those alloy ones look good but cost more than i earn in a month so dont think swmbo will let me buy one of those ! jon

Keep an eye on eBay. Specifically keep an eye out for someone selling the parts bag which includes all the rear axle gubbins. You'll still need the plastic casings / sprue, unless you fancy a GPM alloy axle case, but these are around £45 a set.

im hoping somebody might have upgraded their own jeep and have the complete axle going spare ! it would be nicer to save this model and get some use from it rather than scrap it off . are there any other axles from other models that will fit please ? jon

Sent you a PM for with a potential source for the rear axle.
