Can anybody tell me how they make the TT-02 chassis a SWB version?

I don't actually have a TT02, but from the manual I believe it's all about reversing the rear a-arms - well something to do with the suspension arms :-)

I truly hope that Tamiya is considering to make Rally blocks for the 30mm Wheels of the Porsche.

That would be something nice :-)

Now that Zakspeed Capri has my attention (I wonder why !!) Years ago I had a few nip Zakspeed 1/10th shells however the quality was poor as such I did nowt with em. It might be time to invest in a new Tamiya looking at that shell. Shell needs dropping some more for the shelf look !! not sure front spoiler would last long in normal running LOL...

The wheelbase thing is unusual. And slightly annoying.

Gone are the hopes of a cheap Porsche body to add to the collection on a SWB TA03R-S (237mm) or even TA04-SS (247mm)...

The TT02 can be made to 251mm wheelbase (instead of the standard 257mm)

Look at page 18/19 in the TT02 Manual on TamiyaUSA....

Same deal with the weelbase as on the TT-01, where the short wheelbase configuration was used for cars like the BMW Z4 and Lamborghini Countach.

Now that has got my attention!

I read this on redrc.net... "Next up is the 1973 Porsche 911 RSR, again on the TT-02 chassis but this time in short wheelbase configuration."

Can anybody tell me how they make the TT-02 chassis a SWB version? I have an XV-01 that I love and think this would sit rather well on it... just need to work out if it can be shortened.

WOW,WOW,WOW,WOW!!!

If I remember correctly, that was how the TA-03 became a SWB too. I wonder if the XV-01 arms work the same way? Only one way to find out... to the mancave!

TA03 swb configurations physically have a shorter tub / chassis plates, bringing the front and rear gearboxes closer together (requiring a shorter belt).

Interesting to see Tamiya's version of the 73 Porsche RSR compared to the HPI Racing cup racer body that fits on an M06.

Looks like Tamiya is doing Fuchs wheels also? Although they don't look as good as the HPI ones.

Will have to see the kit once it comes out.

Cheers,

Skottoman

Indeed! Looks pretty accurate to the real thing otherwise.

No.

If I may rant for a moment, it looks like tamiya just stamped out their standard swift shell with a change in livery, hoping we wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Monster Sport racing already had a rally ready racing swift in their stable, (top pic and banner) and that swift looked just like the original tamiya offering with more white accents. The super swift in the picture above, has very specific styling changes that make it necessary for a new mold. A new livery and blue wheels aren't enough to get me to drink the Kool-Aid.

True, but dude, it's a Suzuki Swift! It's hardly an iconic car, I'd rather they spent their efforts on something that lots of people actually want.

I'd tend to agree, but the long and the short of it is that they've gone ahead and spent the money for the new livery / use of the name, so obviously they thought it was worth a production run. I think they should have either done it right because they're tamiya and scale realism is supposed to be their thing, or just not done it at all (because the car isn't iconic enough) and released something sexier like you said. I mean if no one wants it, why bother at all?

they flopped and swapped around the rear suspension arms, instead of arching rearwards they arch forwards

I had a good look last night and the XV-01 rear-suspension actually has a rather unique angle to the arms which means reversing them would either make no change or might even make the wheelbase longer.

I like the Porsche RSR. Tamiya usually releases historic bodies on the M-chassis. I welcome this on a 1/10 scale. Will definitely be buying this body :D

Even if the Swift is the same one with new stickers, the Porsche looks impressive, and that Capri is brilliant!

Were the Celica Gr. 5 and the Zakspeed Capri contemporaries? I was thinking about how cool it would be to see a two-model Gr. 5 series one day, like those promotional videos of the original Tamtech cars with the Porsches and Lancias...

I have the HPI Porsche RSR for my M06. Can't wait to put it on my TRF416 as well.. I can race using a fleet of Porsche RSRs in 1/10 tc and m class lol

This one has my attention too. Maybe painted white and built with high ground clearance and rally wheels and tyres. Plus bearings, CVA's, alloy prop shaft, motor mount and hex screws.

I would still like to see a 959 rally version on this chassis but I guess I could make do with this.

Hmm an RSR rallye, might actually be cool with a triple or quad fog light bar on the hood

I hope they continue with some additional vintage bodies, BMW 3.0 CSL and M1 would be awesome additions.

That's the reason for witch I'm asking Mr T to make 30mm Rallyblocks :D

I can't possibly have one of those Porsches now since it would actually be bigger than my 993 series Porsche (PIAA TA03R-S), which doesn't make sense! :P

A Porsche like that should've been on an M-Chassis IMO.
