So which is to best chassis to buy the TA02 or the TA03RS, both are 4WD drive, the Lancia was only RWD if I've read the thread correctly.

Would just swap the front diff out for standard Tamiya steering parts to make the model more authentic?

Ok, so I'm totally obsessed with this link and the 037.. I have too say all the fun Grastens has with his Lancia have got me hooked.

I took the plunge and I bought a used TA03RS complete as a no runner, as I can now see from the thread I could run it with out the expensive belt that drives the front wheels.

Does £78 inc post and packing sound like a lot of money to pay for the chassis etc, the car looks to be complete. I have no idea, but I have a feeling this will be an expensive build.

I'd say that's about right, I too bought a TA03RS car last week for £75 delivered. It came with a Porsche body which is in great condition but that's all I got over and above your deal.

All you need now is the body set, wheels, tyres and paint and you'll have a 'proper' 037.

I emailed rallylegendsrc.com the other day and am just waiting to hear back on shipping prices. If you like, I can ask them if 2 sets would be cheaper?

Here's where I'm up to so far:

Jason's Store currently has the rare 'J' parts for anyone looking to do a pukka double-deck chassis conversion. Obviously if you get the conversion kit these parts are included, but if you buy the more s*******y carbon fibre chassis plates you have to source these separately. It's taken me a while!

Ooops, swear filter blocked out the middle of my word...I meant swan-ky!

Yea that's what I'm saying - I managed to convert a TA03R-S tub to carbon chassis plates without using the FRP conversion by sourcing these bits :)

Obviously you need quite a surplus of counter-sunk screws too...

Nope

Nope

Nope

It's the shorter belt you want - these are the rare ones! Only one type was made, which is 53297 - TA03RS/FS aramid reinforced drive belt OP297.

Unlike the standard TA03R / TA03F which had a normal rubber drive belt in the kit, and the reinforced ones were the 'option part' the short chassis only had this one option. Or the red one, but good luck with that (49103)

Dear 037 lovers,

Take a moment and watch the following video by Chris Harris. He takes a ride in a Stratos, Delta S4 and an 037.

Those cars are unreal, 11:53 onwards had me holding my breath as if I was in the car myself!

Steve: keep in my that rally legends 037 is standard wheel base 257. Also make sure you contact rally legends in UK, since you reside there. The link I posted earlier on this page is for the US.

Here is the UK

Doh, I emailed the US guys, didn't realise they have a UK site!

I'm only looking at using their wheels, I take it the wheelbase won't affect this?

You guys do realise that there is a guy on ebay selling 4 full sets of NIP genuine Tamiya 037 wheels for a dirt cheap price, yeah?

Er, no, you got a link dude, can't seem to find them?

To be honest, they have been there since Friday afternoon and I have been amazed to keep going back and seeing that no more had been sold since I bought my own set. I can only assume that since he didn't list the part number they were not showing up in people's searches.

I'd keep an eye on that guy's auctions as he tends to relist a lot of hard to find stuff like this. He keeps listing Avante Black Special Decals again & again from God knows where.
