Hello all...

I have just recently bought a Vintage Midnight Pumpkin for a good price. It has been left for an amount of years so I had to replace the battery and the 4 tyres.

I have a problem where sometimes it will run fine and other times it starts to run as soon as I connect the battery? I have also given it a good clean through by removing all the pieces...

Your help is appriciated.

Hi there , welcome to the club .Make sure you switch on your Transmitter before connecting the battery and /or switching on the receiver switch so it sets the MSC to neutral, and switch the Transmitter off last thing .If you start up like this already then your MSC might not be set properly to neutral or your Transmitter trim is off .Check the switch as said before :)

Hi ...

Thanks very much for replying... I will try that as soon as I source another switch!

I have a similar problem with a Vintage Falcon I have picked up, I have set all the trim on the transmitter so maybe that needs a new On/Off switch too?

It also has a separate black 4 AA Battery pack attached to the switch which is strange... would this be a similar problem where someone has tried to fix it in the past?

Many Thanks... Phil.

Hello Chaps...

I have (hopefully) solved the problems with both cars as I bought 2x Tamiya Electronic Speed Controllers...

The MP Seems to be working ok now I have placed the old Falcon speed controller in it.

Just a quick question, Can I put any Tamiya crystal sets in and they will work or not?

Thanks, Phil.

Depends on your radio, I'm guessing its a vintage AM, so if your crystal is 75mhz, then you can put in any other AM crystal in the 75Mhz range. Same for the 27Mhz band, they only work with other 27Mhz crystals.

The 4AA battery pack is to power the receiver and servos. If you dont use the 4AA battery pack, then your receiver, servos and motor are powered by the 7,2V battery. When the 7,2V battery runs out of power, then your receiver is also running low on juice and your car can go out of control especially if you have a Mechanical speed controller.
