Being an idiot, I'm starting to see the sense in buying 3. One to keep NIB, one to build as a shelfer and one to bash...just two is now starting to seem wrong...what is wrong with my brain? Somebody help me!

Yep ! the good old three box rule . This is why i will get more @ a later date , It all comes down to price .

Your becoming an RC junky :P ..

I don't know wether its my eyes, or the camera angle, but the front tyres on the display model with the shell on look to have a very high side wall ?

I had the exact same thought last night while watching the video! I actually re-played that part of the video to double check.

Tower has the Egress for pre-order: $715.99.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDXHM&P=7

Note: As always, the price will settle to around 65%-68% of MSRP after a while. MSRP is $822, so the price will be around $540 - $560 before coupons.

Edit 2013-10-04 22:57 EDT: The Tower price is now $559.99 before coupons.

Super Saver Club $75 off $500 coupon means total price is $484.99 shipped.

Or do what I did and buy $40.01+ worth of extra stuff to bring order total to $600 and save $90 with Super Saver Club $600 coupon. (spend an extra $40 to save an extra $15).

lool,, what i feel it is the same as Avante 2001...which make sence since they used the rear arm stays from the Avante 2001 as well ;)

That wing position was magical, especially when mounted right at the top end, it made the Egress's look really unique. Grr. Bit gutted about that to be honest.

No, the wing stay is like original, you can choose two position holes on the wing and you can move the wing on the wing stay. The posizion you see in the picture is the lowest one.

Yeah I reckon, I want the rere wing stay for mine! With the 2001 stay, the wing sits on quite an angle but lower than the eggy one.

Wow 25 pages of great info.

So I've been debating which kits to scoop up here in the near future, and the re-re egress just jumped to the top of list.

I was seriously debating the Avante but now, he's pushed to the back of the bus.

You guys have shown me the awesomeness of the egress!

Cheers!

Come on, surely not to the very back? The Avante is an epic buggy and I think considerably more jaws dropped and drool entered various keyboards around the world when that was announced! 25 pages is a drop in the ocean :D

No not the VERY back, but to the back. There are quite a few other cars that I REALLY want, and having 2 cars that are $500+ and one is already "hopped up" and is a better performer than the other, well it's kind of an easy choice. Besides, I think the Egress looks way cooler than the Avante. It's got a great stance, and I have a cool concept in mind for mine.

I really want a re-re RC10 (I always wanted one as a kid), SRB, Frog and Monster Beetle (Thanks to Beef Muffin, I now have the desire for a MB).

I like the Avante, and I'm sure I'll scoop one up at some point, but I think for my driving style, and at this point in my collection, it's the best fit.

One has already hit eBay.

& if this is the price or there abouts , I won't be getting one . Not worth that price , I think $500 is going to be too much .

For what is in it , It should be a 'cheapish' kit . Will wait & see . The Avante was $415 & that has more alloy etc to

it , so the egress should be cheaper , as it don't come with as much as the avante .

What do you think .

I do have two egress & one is a runner .

I agree with you... logic would have the Egress costing less than the Avante because of the lack of alloy parts. Unfortunately Tamiya marketed the original Egress at a price more than the Avante.. so they are following the same approach with the re-re. Even with my Tower gold discounts, I will still be paying $484.00. For the time being, that is too rich for my blood.

But the original Egress WAS worth more than the Avante - Carbon chassis instead of FRP, Titanium Screws, etc.

The NEW Egress is, as far as materials are concerned, cheaper. They both have the carbon plates, the Egress doesn't seem to have the Ti screws, and the Avante has all that alloy, whereas the Egress has plastic arms etc.

I still think the Egress will cost more than the Avante 2011, but not more than the BS

It'll hurt to see the Egress launching at a higher cost the the 2011 Avante, from what i can see the only substantial "extra" would be the Hi cap dampers, as in there current guises both kits are carbon loaded, but i agree, the Avante had a badword of a lot of alloy in the suspension arm department, where the Egress, its all much cheaper plastic.....time will tell, but I'm sure we will see deals once its officially out in the open.

If Tamiya were to sell those High Cap dampers by themselves, would anyone pay the hop up price for them? Back then they may have been a true hop up option, but they've been revised 10x over by the TRF dampers.
