It doesn't matter that the Egress comes with "Hi-Caps". Either way they cost the exact same amount to manufacture as the Avante Alloy shocks. Same parts count and manufacturing process. Perhaps a couple cents more for adjustable height collars.

This Egress kit should not cost even as much as the 2011 Avante. Especially considering they literally developed ZERO new parts for this release (except that bogus cop-out front shock tower). Old body & undertray molds, old plastics parts molds (N-parts only?), and no titanium bits or sealed bearings. You are literally paying a premium for the name alone.

Totally Agree,,,The N parts Also there in Vajra ,,so almost the front Shock is the new stuff to Tamiya to spend for..

All good logic states that the kit should come in at no more than $450 from Stella. The only thing that worries me is that Tamiya tried to rip us off with the Vajra. I seriously hope they do not try that trick again or I will have to reconsider my purchase.

The Avante retails for $782 in the US The Egress $822. Although its a mere $40 more, we seem to all agree that it should have retailed for considerably less than the Avante.

So lets start a protest, Regress the price of the Egress :D

That Vajra has to be the biggest flop Tamiya has ever made. It retails for the same price as the Egress, $822! The project manager that came up with that idea is most definitely a candidate for harakiri

I think Tamiya will have a lot of kits left on there hands if they don't price it right, it'll be similar to the Vajra bargain bucket, ill gladly pay 2011 Avante territory, but not a fat lot more, i still love the car and commend them for the offer of a re re, but don't kid a kidder lol.

To keep the honour!

Its very true, the Vajra is low on any redeeming quality, its not even a decent looking truck, it doesn't even have any cute, endearing qualities........one to forget ever happened lol.

I still don't understand why ebay isn't flooded with Vajira part-outs. The car has to be worth 10 times more in parts than as a complete kit. I would gladly purchase the front & rear ball diffs at half the price of the re-re hop-up ones ($25-$30us). I might even consider purchasing the chassis plates & stuff to try on my vanquish for deep MSRP discount. Tamiya wants an arm & leg for those bits on their site.

If Tamiya were to sell those High Cap dampers by themselves, would anyone pay the hop up price for them? Back then they may have been a true hop up option, but they've been revised 10x over by the TRF dampers.

Only $22.50 @ stella for the rear hi caps , So yer i would . Is the egress coming with a motor ? .

So lets say $45 front and rear. For a few more dollars (not the Clint Eastwood movie) you can buy a set of TRF buggy dampers that have threaded shock collars, flourine coated cyclinder, ti coated shafts, basically much better performance.

Point is, they're 25 year old hop up option. Heck the TRF airation dampers are already old news with the release of big bores.

According to the specifications tab at TamiyaUSA:

Motor : not included

Requires A : 7.2 battery & charger

Requires B : 2-channel radio gear & electronic speed control

Requires C : polycarbonate paint

Requires D : motor

What I'm reading in this thread is doing nothing other than putting me off purchasing one, the egress was never on my want list as I'd already left the hobby when it was released. When first stated as a re release I started to see it in a different light and was coming round to the idea I would appreciate one in my collection but with the current speculation of price I'm having a really hard time to justify this one.

The fact no motor is included and the fact they have changed a few things even I feel distract from the original, I mean come on Tamiya would it really have cost too much more to change the anodising of the gold uprights to silver??? And surely they still make blue ball end covers? Just these two changes would make a difference to my view of this car.

Maybe Tamiya will redeem itself with the re release of a certain motor as a hop up? Old style casing but maybe brushless technology ?

Other than that this car really needs to be less expensive that the Avante in my eyes.

Hmm, Tamiya USA have removed the Egress Re Re page. Odd. I'm guessing a new page with new info is coming?!

Hope so ( new photos and maybe new specifications )

It's back up now, but all descriptive info (included price) has been removed.

I do hope they are re thinking th contents of the box, to at least include tit screws as it is, its not worth the price tab ... so far (the rrp im talking_

I doubt there will be Ti screws included, as stated before it was displayed without them at the trade show. If there were, I hope they are hex.. the original had phillips if I am not mistaken?

It's a shame that having waited for the Egress , already there is much disappointment on a Tamiya forum. I'm not sure I'll go thru with it either but it's not a price issue for me, just purely the fact I built my own Egress '13 earlier this year. !

If the price is that of the avante I'm sure it'll sell well over a period of a few years; it's not limited release. I think a lot if the avante buyers already have their fix too !

Correct. But that's only because phillips head titanium was all Tamiya produced at the time (sold in 10pc packs). Today they only produce titan screws with a hex head (sold in 5pc packs).

The most interesting part of the original titan phillips screws were the Avante/Egress titanium king pins. Those bits were only available in an Egress kit or the complete Avante titan screw kit. They never sold them separately as spares. I also imagine they will never produce a similar piece ever again.

i dont think the tit, screw will be in this kit + they will release a hop up pack of the Tit. Screw like they did with the Avante and will be Hex. Saddly, the Philip type will not be produced by Tamiya anymore huuuuuuuuh....:(

I think it's just a sign of how spoiled we have become. Not so long ago the very thought of this kit getting a re-release would have been scoffed at but now that we know absolutely any of the old classics can and probably will be brought back we find ourselves getting in a tizz over small details. To be fair though I think the vast majority are ecstatic at this re-release, despite the slight watering down of the spec, and even the complainers will still buy one, albeit with a bit of grumbling along the way. :)

At least we have an excuse for our grumbling though, based on all of the re-releases we have had, as we have had time to develop our brat-like attitudes. What excuses do the naysayers on RC10talk have though, considering this is their first ever "big" moment? :P
