Wandy, I personally don't mind the minor changes like front tower etc, I view them as possible improvements that Tamiya saw fit. I am however finding myself sensitive to the retail price of $822. With the given specs, this kit should come in considerably less than then Avante. It lacks the alloy parts, doesn't come with Ti screws like the original. The Avante came with the carbon plates so that doesn't justify the higher price either. Therefore the pricing doesn't seem correct.

Yes, that's all very well but let's not forget that they still have to factor in some "prestige" value into the kit too. They are pushing this buggy as the pinnacle of the development of the Avante chassis so it's not very realistic to expect it to be lower than the Avante. Remember also that the kit will come with all of the Black Special Hop-Up parts such as torque splitter and racing steering set too. Now these parts may not be particularly expensive to manufacture but nevertheless they still elevate the kit's status and the company has to ask a price that reflects this.

Ask yourselves this. If the Bruiser 2012 had somehow been cheaper to manufacture than a Super Hotshot 2012 do you think that the Bruiser RRP would have been the lower of the two? Not a chance, and this goes back once again to the status factor.

It's why they thought they could get away with asking silly money for the Vajra. They actually gambled on us swallowing the hype and seeing it as a prestige kit. The good news is that they seem to have learned from that huge mistake as the Egress' RRP is almost bang on with that of the Avante 2011 and significantly less than the Avante Black Special's.

I see and understand your point my friend. :)

Does anyone know if they improved the quality / durability of the plastic suspension arms? Are they as brittle as the original? Or were they improved with Vajra release?

Suspension arms of my Vajra kit seemed the same as some additional spares I bought, and my original Egress ones.

The front knuckles/hubs of the Vajra felt very soft to me, I actually twisted one connecting the steering rod, replaced with yeah racing alloy items now .

ya if you see at bottom of the decription "please note that this is a pre-order auction the car kit will be arrived at mid of NOV"

Considering that the UK Avante 2011 price is roughly £470 across the board I'd say this is very encouraging. Could it actually be available from Hong Kong for a price under £300 I wonder?

I notice that the UK release date has now come forward a couple of weeks to November 11th. Not long to go now. :)

I guess with a 10% discount £360 isn't too bad.

So was the Avante literally £470 when it was re-re'd here in the UK, it didn't go below this price?

Not to my knowledge. Fusion don't have it in stock now but Time Tunnel do and the asking price is £484 without ESC and their prices are usually bang on with Fusion's.

£360 posted from Fusion is pretty darn good actually. Take £20 off for speedy next day delivery, £340 and add in the fact that your supporting a local hobby shop (local globally lol) then I may even cancel with Stella actually.

It makes you wonder what Stella will offer it for though if the UK price is £399. I wouldn't be surprised if it came in at around the $390 mark from them.

I think that's the same one I was talking about on page 25.

Also, does anybody trust an eBay seller with a pre-order? I certainly don't. 'Pre-order now and by the time the thing releases I can walk away with your cash as we've passed the cut off date with eBay to ask for a refund' ;)

With that news I'd expect an email from Stella in the next 7-10 days :)

Yep, I will go with in stock on Friday 25th of this month.

This is the advantage of knowing the UK price, as nowhere in the known universe will it retail it for more ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if it would retail for more here in Australia.
