I wouldn't be surprised if it would retail for more here in Australia.

That would be true if any retailer actually stocked an Egress in Australia. I would be very very surprised to see one on a Hobby Shop shelf here!

Yer!! But they did stock the Bruiser $999. & i did see them stay on the shelf , till the dropped the price to $750.

So they May bring them in , Or the shops can bring them in them self's if toy traders won't . I know this can happen .

Perth RC has done it a few times , BUT only if toy traders won't .

Singapore and Indonesia as well.

Singapore, really? When I was living in Malaysia, Tamiya Underground had all the re-re's in stock soon after release (I got my re-Scorcher and re-Avante from them). They were more than Stella but about the same when you added on the shipping; much less than the UK. I just looked back at the receipt and I paid RM1400 for the Avante in 2011 which is about US$440. Tamiya Underground is owned by Stargek from Singapore who are the sole distributors of Tamiya in Singapore. So, I would imagine that the price in Singapore should be reasonable. Indonesia, I have no idea.

So, my RC10 arrived last week...and its still in its box...I WANT MY EGRESS DAMMIT! Nothing is scratching the itch, nothing, not even a new RC10.

Is it November yet?

Sooooo... Just to pass the time until the Egress actually appears - what available upgrades are available / recommended if you were intending to run yours at a vintage club level?

I already have the Yeah Racing front and rear aluminium uprights (for the Avante) NIP ready and waiting, and am considering the alloy front wishbone hanger, but just wondered if anyone else has seen any more upgrades that may be useful.

Luckily the new diffs and driveshafts are pretty up to date, design wise, so they will be fine. I'm considering getting a few extra sets of front and rear arms in case of breakages.

So, if anyone has seen any other worthwhile upgrades, post 'em up! ;-)

- Center diff from an Avante should make the car more fun vs kit one-way or kit locker.

- DF03 Wheels & Tires (High Density Spike) will also drive 1000 times better than kit hybrid spike tires (unless your in grass). They are my favorite all-terrain tire for 4WD bashing. Seem to last forever, even on asphalt.

- Vanquish body & wing (cause it's cooler ).

- Some 400 grit wet/dry sand paper to level the diff rings. This always makes diffs better.

- Ceramic diff balls certainly couldn't hurt.

- Whatever lipo will fit

- Inexpensive 17.5T or 13.5T club-spec brushless

You'll never break the arms, expecially rear ones. You will break front and rear knuckle, expecially front ones. The upright no more breakages due the new material of the gold ones.

And yeah, the front wishbone hanger will melt. Use the Vanquish one, it's stronger or buy the aluminum one as I will do.

Another weak point is the front damper mount. You will break it in two ways:

1) You will brake the plate (but new matierial is stronger so I don't think so).

2) You will break the plastic support of the plate, in few seconds.

Due this problem I made a modified Carbon plate by myself. It is hanged on both holes on each side of the supports, so it's stronger, never broke again the supports.

Absolutelly run the Egress with triple ball diff. The car is a lot smoother on the track.

With the locked center gear the car is more aggressive on accelerations but worse on the bends, expecially narrow bends and the rear diff cry a lot.

With the one way the car looses some acceleration (similar to center ball diff) but the rear diff smiles. The car also became sharper on the narrow bends.

Ah, did you know that the Egress with a hot motor doesn't start straight? I drove crazy with this problem, I disassembled the chassis many times, I supposed it was bent, I changed the steering servo, the dampers set up, the steering set up, the toe in and toe out but no results.

When the car starts from the starting grid it skids on the left side (if I remember well). I never solved the problem because this is not a problem but a characteristic. This car behavior is due the motor position. If you have an Hi Torque motor the torque of the motor itself moves the car on its left side.

I used a 10x2 Turns with 3800 NiMh batteries.

Once started the car goes stright on the straigh line and it jumps very very well, always lands on four wheels. What a car, and it's fast on the track.

Another mod I suggest id to add some anti squat on the rear end. You can do it with easy.

What do you do to add anti-squat? Double up on the reinforcment plates to raise the front of the rear lower arms?... or swap the bushings at the rear of rear lower arms?

I raised the front mount on the rear arms on my vajgress build, using vajra cones. Torque steer is virtually a thing of the past with brushless motors sure to the much lighter rotor... I have a sensored speed passion 8.5 in mine :)

I have the Yeah Racing front and rear aluminium hub carriers, I will also get the aluminium front wishbone hanger.

I have a spare 17.5 Speed Passion brushless motor that I will probably use, along with a Spektrum hi-torque servo and Team Orion LiPo stick packs. Just need to get a brushless esc and I will be all set.

I have a repro body shell that I will be spraying in my race colours for the track, and will do the kit shell in box art colours.

I will also get a set of 2.2 black wheels and DBoots Terabyte tyres for my local track (have these on my TRF201, and they are superb!), leaving the kit wheels and tyres for when I display on the shelf.

The centre ball diff sounds like an interesting option. I will test the kit with the one way first, then get an Avante centre diff to compare.

I much prefer the Egress shell over the Vanquish though, to be honest. Sorry! ;-)

Both things.

I raised up the arms near the reinforcement plate with a longer aluminum tube as you can see in my Vanquish here:

I made the tubes by myself with a lathe.

Then I lowered the rear part of the lower arms making some aluminum bushing with the "correct" lenght. This modification could reduce the ground height of the rear end of the car but you can easy solve this problem with a longer lower ball connector on the rear dampers.

This is good! I never used the Egress with a brushless.

Vanquish is a good variation of the Avante serie, like the Super Sabre with the Boomerang/Hot Shot serie but better imho.

Another advantage of the Vanquish body was the more room inside for the ESC, the receiver, the cables and the airflow.

The look is not so bad if the car has the right options... imho.

It will be interesting to see what people come up with now. The new model includes the Avante 2001 reinforcing brackes. I would think a simple alloy block with two holes in it to replace to the reinforcing plates would do the trick.

BTW: Vanquish body was also 25 years ahead of it's time compared to the modern trend of cab-forward race buggy bodies. lol Though most of those are truly hideous. :x

Of course in real racing, form always follows function.

Oh my god this thing is really ugly, believe me, it seems that there's no limit to ugliness... Bleahh!!!

LOL. as the say in your language, non si mischia il cioccolato e la m%$da. Its a shame that the offroad class stopped preserving the heritage of the original dune buggy. This is why I don't yet own a 4wd buggy.
